Movie Digest

This short film follows Chae Young as she goes to a housewarming celebration and runs into her ex-girlfriend Jeong Yoon, whom she split up with a year ago. At first, she tries play it cool, but lingering regrets and unsaid words still hang in the air. To add fuel to the fire, Jeong Yoon’s new girlfriend arrives at the party. Things get awkward between Chae Young and Jeong Yoon’s new girlfriend. As old wounds get re-opened and harsh words get exchanged the housewarming party takes a bad turn.

The Feel-Good Part

The premise of the story is engaging, it is a classic case of past meets present. It is interesting to see how some parts of you never change no matter how much time has passed. There are several scenes that’ll make you laugh out loud. The characters are very relatable as well and whenever something awkward happens you are forced to remember your own cringey moments. Another interesting part of the movie is that you never know what’s going to happen next.

The Disappointing Factor

If anything is really disappointing it would be the duration of the movie. If there was more time, perhaps the story could have unfolded more naturally. Moreover, it was a small-budget movie therefore there is a certain finesse missing from the cinematography. Yet, despite these limitations the creators managed to deliver a decent performance.

In-Depth Analysis

What I really loved about the movie was how they didn’t desensitize the concept of a same-sex couple through a heteronormative perspective. Everything happened naturally, as it should, so that you focus on the protagonist’s relationships rather than their sexual preferences. All the characters felt so relatable, their personalities and their daily life problems make you feel like you’ve been friends with them for a very long time.

Star Power

The main actresses Leem Chae-young, Kim Yoon-Jeong and Choi Woo Jeong are up-and-coming actresses in the independent film circuits. They have been working in other small-budget productions and have delivered great performances. Their portrayal of the characters was very relatable and heart-warming. Choi Woo Jeong, especially has 5 movie titles under her belt and her performance backs her experience up!

Overall Opinion

Sometimes you want to watch something good but you’re not in the mood for an hour-and-a-half long movie or an entire series. For days like those, this movie is the perfect choice for you. It is light-hearted but also has a dramatic element to it making it a well-rounded film. The duration is good enough to keep you engaged but not long enough to make it feel like the writers are stretching the story. Moreover, if you are looking for a romantic-comedy that focuses more on self-growth, this is the one for you
