1598 is the year that the earth and sun are thought to revolve. German mathematician Kepler offers to investigate the universe for the Italian mathematician and university professor Galileo with a book titled “The Mysteries of the Universe.” Galileo declines, but in his quest to disprove Kepler’s theory, he offers the possibility that it might be accurate if he substitutes a controversial notion.

The Feel-Good Part

Galileo and Johannes Kepler’s correspondence is the main subject of SIDEREUS. According to legend, Johannes Kepler wrote to Galileo Galilei seeking for assistance with the publication of his “Mysterium Cosmographicum,” or Cosmographic Mystery. In response, Galileo said he could not assist Kepler with that; nonetheless, when Galileo published “Sidereus Nuncius” years later, Kepler formally endorsed Galileo’s views. Based on these facts, the musical’s author, Baek Seung-woo, conjures up a hypothetical tale of what might have occurred between these two moments in time.

The Disappointing Factor

While conducting study to disprove Kepler’s idea, Galileo replies that it might be true if he substitutes a controversial theory. What follows is disappointing for many viewers.
