True Mothers is a Japanese movie that was released in 2020. The plotline of the movie revolves around two mothers of a son, one who is the biological mother and the adoptive mother. The two the mother met once when the son, Asato, was adopted and still a newborn. However, the second meeting between the two mothers is unexpected where the biological mother, Hikari seems almost a new person. The movie unfolds the drama that engulfs the family and Hikari.

The Feel-Good Part

The movie is well written, and some of the scenes of the movie will leave behind a strong impression on the audience. The cinematography of the movie stands out wonderfully, every scene of the movie is artistry and picture-worthy.

The Disappointing Factor

The movie barely has any disappointing factors. Although, some of the scenes felt a little unnecessary and dragged.

In-Depth Analysis

The theme of the movie is sensitive and the makers of the movie did an excellent job of portraying the vulnerable feeling on-screen. The teen pregnancy in the plotline was depicted sensibly supported by good acting. The movie also maturely depicts the unsettling feeling adoptive parents go through while adopting a child, realistically. The plotline is uniquely written with proper execution, making it a very dramatic and emotionally charged movie. The movie is not limited to only the topic of adoption but also explores the genre of family love, teen romance, etc.

Star Power

Nagasaku Hiromi plays the role of Kurihara Satoko, Iura Arata plays the role of Kurihara Kiyokazu, and Makita Aju plays the role of Katakura Hikari. The child actor Sato Reo plays the role of Kurihara Asato. The supporting casts include Asada Miyoko as Asami Shizue, Tanaka Taketo as Aso Takumi, Nakajima Hiroko as Katakura Takako, Hirahara Tetsu as Katakura Masaru, Komai Ren as Katakura Misaki, Riju Go as Hamano Takeshi, Yamashita Rio as Konomi, Hazuki Hitomi as Maho, Morita Kokoro as Tomoka, Yamamoto Hiroshi as the friend of Kiyokazu, Miura Masaki as Mishima, Wakaba Ryuya and Aoki Munetaka as the debt collector, and Nishina Takashi as the uncle of Hikari. Some of the actors who had a guest appearances in the movie are Ikezu Shoko, Tezuka Mai, and many more.

True Mothers is a critically acclaimed movie, and rightfully so. You are recommended to watch this movie if you want to watch a good cinema. The movie is beautifully presented on-screen with brilliant narration and screenplay. The unconventional theme of the movie is handled maturely. The story is emotionally demanding and will require you to truly invest your attention and emotions, so I would advise you to watch the movie when you have enough time to fully invest yourself.
