Movie Digest

This story is about Mio who loses both of her parents in a great flood and she also gets separated from her best friend Noe. She discovers that she had a talent for cooking and works hard to satisfy the customers. In Edo city, Mio makes a name for herself as a talented chef and reunites with her best friend there, but things are not the same as before as Noe becomes an Oiran, a high-ranking person.

The Feel-Good Part

The friendship between Mio and Noe is very adorable, as kids, they promise to be together forever but they get separated and still managed to find their way back to each other. Different types of food were shown, for instance, Mio makes the oysters in Osaka style but people in Edo find it tasty when it’s fried, the food differences in different regions are well portrayed.

The Disappointing Factor

The romantic interest for Mio leads to nowhere. The story has more potential than what is shown and the food looks delicious but they did not have enough screen time for the food.

Overall Opinion

This movie is good and emotional, but it is not up to par with most food-related movies. It is a bit lacking but it is worth watching.
