A Morning of Farewell is a Japanese movie that was released in 2021. The movie is alternatively known as Life’s Station. The movie tells the story of Sawako, an emergency physician working at a university hospital while staying away from home. She returns to her hometown, Ishikawa Prefecture for her father because of a situation and starts working in a local clinic. She begins working with her fellow caregivers and a former colleague. Sawako finds it difficult to adjust to the new environment of work, as the clinic provides the facility of home healthcare which bounds Sawako to visit the patient’s home. She struggles to adjust to the new setting, but eventually settles down in the new setting and forms a way to attend to the patients, get involved in their lives, and bond with her colleagues.

A Morning of Farewell is a well-written movie that strikes the right chord of the viewers as intended. The movie is sentimental with a positive moral.

The major disappointing factor of this movie would surely be its unfair screen timing, there are many actors who didn’t get a fair screen timing despite being popular and having high character value.
In-Depth Analysis
A Morning of Farewell is about a hospice physician, Sawako returning to her hometown for her father’s sake. She moves back with her father, Tatsuro, and gets a job in the local clinic where her colleague from her former job joins her. Sawako, along with her fellow caregivers attends to different patients with extremely different personalities. At first, Sawako finds it hard to settle down at her new job and form bonds, but with time, she does get settled and involved in her patient’s life as she attends them. A Morning of Farewell is a movie with a message of life being vulnerable and extremely fleeting. The movie was well-written as well as well-executed. The acting is very genuine and real, the actors did an amazing job of portraying their characters perfectly. However, some of the actors didn’t get fair screen time, which might upset their fans.

Yoshinaga Sayuri plays the titular character of Shiraishi Sawako, Matsuzaka Tori plays the character of Noro Seiji, Hirose Suzu plays the character of Hoshino Mayo, Nishida Toshiyuki plays the character of Sengawa Tohru, and Tanaka Min plays the character of Shiraishi Tatsuro. The supporting cast includes Ishida Yuriko as Nakagawa Tomokoo, Iseya Yusuke as Enohara Issei, Koike Eiko as Terada Chieko, Izumiya Shigeru as Namiki Tokusaburo, Minamino Yoko as Wakabayashi Yuko, Yanagiba Toshiro as Miyajima Kazuyoshi, and many more. The movie has been directed by Narushima Izuru.
Overall Opinion
A Morning of Farewell is one of the best slice-of-life movies with a positive message and surely deserves to be on your watch list. The storyline is pretty good and sentimental and depicts the true essence of life being extremely fluttering. I would recommend you keep a napkin handy while watching this movie, as it will surely make you teary.
