Upcoming Summer is a coming-of-age movie that revolves around Chen Chen and Zheng Yu Xing. Chen Chen fails her college entrance exam and Zheng Yu Xing skips the exam because his girlfriend breaks up with him and he goes to her to ask her the reason. Chen Chen tells her parents that she had a bad breakup with Zheng Yu Xing and that is why she failed the exam when the actual reason was because of her parent’s impending divorce.
They both are now again in high school faking a relationship, but this leads to a good friendship. They both found each other at the right time. They share everything. Stand with one another and face the harsh realities of their youth together.
This is not a regular high school movie. It deals with the real stuff. Zheng Yu Xing’s relationship with his father and pursuing what he truly loves. Chen Chen’s mother having an affair and her parents keeping their impending divorce a secret so that she could focus on her exam. The main leads dealing with their own feelings. The movie is filled with genuine concerns for youth and the future with excellent execution.

The acting is perfect. Zhang Zifeng and Wu Leo are amazing actors and they did an outstanding job. The supporting roles are also perfect.

Upcoming summer is a fantastic movie with a satisfying ending. The idea of an open ending was amazing and it just keeps the viewers guessing.
