Movie Digest
This is fantasy drama tells the story of the Goddess of Nuwa Palace who has 500 years being demoted to the world of mortals as she saves a white snake. In the mortal world, she is a doctor named Bai Jingyao hailing from Baicao Xuan, and in the process meets Liu Long Ting.
The Feel Good Part
The movie unlike other fantasy dramas is neither fast nor slow, and is paced well. The brilliant performance by male lead (also an eye candy) is also a highlight.
The Disappointing Factor
Since, the movie has no English sub-titles, it is hard to follow the intense dialogues as the meaning is lost in translation. Also, the tempo of the love story between the medico and the snake is quite boring. As compared the male lead, the character of female lead is quite weak.
In-Depth Analysis
Like every other fantasy movie, there is an unpardonable mistake committed by the God or Goddess, and the punishment is spending their lives serving humans. In this movie, the Goddess of Nuwa Palace, is demoted to the human world wherein she is a medico by the name of Ba Jingyao.
As the movie progresses, she meets Liu Long Ting, the snake she had saved, and they fall in love.
The movie showcases the struggles and challenges of the lead pair but in the end the snake gets his girl.
Star Power
For most female fans of Chinese movies, Meng En is an eye candy. He is one of the reasons to watch the movie. His female counter part is Gao Si Wen who is very pretty but the script does not showcase her acting talent. The supporting cast is quite good, and as ensemble, they work well together.
Overall Opinion
If you are fan of fantasy drama, and language is not an issue, then you can give this movie a shot.
