Movie Digest
The fantasy movie is a tale between a mermaid and a fish that she rescues. Every year, in a small fishing village, a young maiden is offered to the Sea god. One such year, it is A li’s turn to be offered.
On her wedding night, she finds out that her husband, the Sea God is an orc (half human, half beast). In the course of the movie, she also discovers a forbidden room, and saves a small fish who she names Hai Da Yu.
The storyline explains the secret of the forbidden room, and the disappearance of Da Yu.

Since it is a movie, it does not delve deep into the characters, and the movie is quick to move on.
In-Depth Analysis
In small fishing village, every year, a young maiden is given to Sea God in return for protection. One year, it is A-Li’s turn who is married to the Sea God, Yan. She realizes that her husband is an orc. She also discovers the secret of the forbidden room which houses the secret of the bride in an ice coffin.
One day, A Li saves a young injured fish and brings it back to the sea palace. She names the fish Hai Da Yu. Dai Yu transforms into a human, and falls in love with the lonely A-Li. They have an affair wherein A-Li gets pregnant.
Yan finds out about the affair resulting in A-Li’s incarceration, and Da Yu disappearance. A-Li is saved by her maid, and she learns about the twisted conspiracy that is awaiting her.
Star Power
A-Li is played by the upcoming female actor Zhang Yu Xi. She is supported well by the cast including Han Dong, who plays Dai Yu.
Overall Opinion
Most Chinese movies have a fantasy theme to them. But this movie is different owing to the twist. If you are a fan of fantasy and suspense, give it a chance.
