Movie Digest

The film Double World is based on the online game Zhengtu, which is the Chinese title for the film. The story is set in a fictional world with ten kingdoms. The two kingdoms of Southern Zhao and Northern Yan were at odds. The film begins with an attempted assassination of King of Southern Zhao. The king decided to prepare for war, but there were no field marshals available to lead the army. Guan Taishi, a warlord, has decided to hold a competition to select the strongest soldiers. For this competition in Phoenix City, each of the eight cities was required to send three warriors. The film centres around a tournament and the individuals who participate in it. It’s a thrilling and action-packed film.

The Feel Good Part

The visual effects are truly amazing. The direction is on a professional level.  The set design, costumes, and cinematography were all fantastic. The martial arts choreography is breathtaking and engaging.

The Disappointing Factor

The level of brutality is higher, which is to be expected given the film’s historical setting. The plot was rushed in the last few minutes, which made it a little muddled. The fact that so many people were killed off towards the end of the film was disheartening.

In-Depth Analysis

Chu Hun and Dong Yilong chose to enter the competition. They were accompanied by another teammate as they left their hometown. The third member of their crew was slain by a beast while travelling to Phoenix City. Dong Yilong and Chu Hun were both drawn to the tournament for different reasons. Chu Hun desired vengeance for his brother’s death, while Yilong wanted to learn more about his father.

Another tournament participant, Jingang, met Yilong and Chu Hun. She also became a member of their group. This was the start of their journey. This film has a lot of twists and turns. Although the film is entertaining, the story suffers as a result of the fast-paced execution.

Star Power

Chu Hun’s character was performed by Peter Ho. He delivered a terrific performance. The orphan Yilong was well-portrayed by Henry Lau. Jingang’s role is played by Chenhan Lin in this film.

Overall Opinion

The story began out well and was engaging, but by the second half, it had become muddled. There seemed to be a lot of undiscovered territory in the plot. Overall, it’s a good film.
