A Dog’s Tale (忠犬流浪记) is a Chinese remake of the Hollywood movie Hachi: A Dog’s Tale (2009) that came to the box office, nation, and worldwide on the 20th of August, 2021. Made under the artistic vision of the director Xu Ang, the film revolves around the tear-jerking life of a devoted dog.
The Feel-Good Part
The first few minutes of A Dog’s Tale are, for a fact, capable of evoking a bunch of heavy sobs from the viewers. The sound directors need a raise for themselves as the music deployed in the movie adds to the climate without which it would remain empty. Moreover, the series of events is unbearable for a light-hearted person, for it contains lush rollercoaster moments. The way the dog acts is another source of enjoyment.
The Disappointing Factor
A short disappointment that fans feel towards A Dog’s Tale is the lack of innovation and originality. The plotline follows the same structure of its previous creative production without bringing anything new to the table. Further, it is too much to not accept the death of its master even after a long time, throwing viewers in a pool of never-ending tears.
In-Depth Analysis
The plot opens up with the adoption of a dog of rare species by an army official. The owner takes it upon himself to provide for and take gentle care of his pet at all costs. What ensues is a building of a heavenly between the two, where they communicate without utterances of words. However, due to a fatal accident, the officer passes, tossing the dog into a dark world, where it constantly waits for its owner to return.
Star Power
For a movie created to evoke cathartic and sorrowful feelings in its audience, the casting director did a fantastic job selecting the members. The starring cast involves Hanson Ying as Yang Qi, Zhang Hao, and Chen Yu Xing.
Overall Opinion
A Dog’s Tale is light but heavy production, and it is best to watch with a tub of ice cream at night for the effects. It sheds light on the fierceness a non-human being can have for a human.
