Drama Digest

Pun hails from a wealthy family. Since he comes from a lot of wealth, he is compelled to prove his worth and become independent. To do this he seeks out a new apartment for himself to rent. He meets porpla, a room owner, who is currently looking to replace his tenant, Nott. Nott has put Porpla in serious trouble by building bizarre gadgets, that sometimes result in accidents like electric power in the room being cut off etc. Nott however convinces Pun to be his pretend boyfriend while Pun lives with Nott so that Nott can continue to live as he did previously. Pun agrees to this as he desperately wants a room and he gets one. Initially irritated by Nott and his antics/behaviors. Pun warms up to him as they both have deep conversations with each other at night. There are other tenants also in the building as neighbours to Nott and some of them have larger-than-life personalities. With several of them in love with Nott as well.

The Feel-Good Part

There are a bunch of characters in the storyline, some with very wholesome scenes to their credit. The relationship that matures between Nott and Pun is amazing to witness. Both of them grew from being a pretend couples to actually having feelings for each other. The eclectic group of residents in the apartment building is a fun trope to experiment along with the BL genre and the makers somewhat got it right. We get insight into Nott and why he is so emotionally invested with the apartment residents as he was an orphan. YYY funnily enough tells the viewers not to expect any rationality in the series and does deliver as promised. The jokes and scenes are non-sensical at best but at least they warned you. In the rare moments, we get Pun and Nott acting serious, we are able to view their spark and what makes their relationship tick.

The Disappointing Factor

Erratic humour. No sense at all and for people with a low threshold for comedy, this would be extremely boring. Maybe this drama has a particular context for the comedy it presents. For example, the drama is from Thailand, so it could be a cultural thing. But on the other hand, the scenes definitely make no sense, almost all the spark and joy from Nott and Pun’s relationship is taken out because of the zany script. Shallow character writing makes the series very boring and tedious to sit through and watch. They also added a trope of a girl in love with Nott. Not only that there is another resident in love with Nott. It all becomes a little messy because Nott is in a pretend relationship with Pun. Excruciating watch and hyperactive humour that is not sensible or suitable for a large audience.

In-Depth Analysis

There is an overload of characters and the hyperactive humour does nothing to ease the viewer into the series at all. Although most BL genre viewers enjoyed the series, this brand of comedy probably appeals to a select audience in the mass. It aims to stand out from the regular BL media by introducing an acid trip for the viewers. It thrives on chaotic hilarity and for some that are their brand of comedy. So, it works well with people who have a weird sense of humour. It tries to portray the importance of certain issues like consent in relationships underneath the eccentric humour. But only visible for those people who are willing to sit through and enjoy this drama. Porpla the room owner is good and often plays the role of a mother figure for the apartment residents who are all younger than them.

Star Power

Yoon Phusanu is the main cast who plays the role of Nott in the series. Lay Talay plays the role of Pun in the series. Poppy Ratchapong is cast in the role of Porpla and pulls it off amazingly.

Overall Opinion

This drama has humour that is very unexpected, the makers realized that the script is not for anyone, so there is a disclaimer. Do not expect any logic from the series, it’s pure entertainment for the sake of entertainment. Random magic- realist moments, people disappearing into the washing machine- space?! It’s an anarchist execution of comedy and writing. Does not follow any formula to make it tick. Hence the weirdness, because there are methods to execution of comedy, and makers of this series have decidedly ignored them. They wanted to experiment with this brand of comedy but did not take into account how marginalized the appreciating audience is. It does not have a constant plot and that is what its essence is. No plot, and the acting is very animated but the cast has previously worked on a number of dramas that drew fans into this series as well. It’s a trip into the average BL genre lovers’ mind/fantasy. Porpla as a character ruled the screen with her costumes sometimes even referencing the Horror Doll Annabelle.
