Why is he seeking revenge? Watch the drama to see how it unfolds.

The Feel-Good Part

The storyline focuses on relationships. They are built on trust from both sides. It takes effort and time to maintain a relationship. Mark and Kit show understanding for their partner’s decision. Unlike the other couples they have a great sense of understanding and mutual trust among each other. They are not only loving and caring towards each other but also towards their friends.

The Disappointing Part

The characters prolong their misunderstandings and don’t actively resolve their issues. Pok and Tong’s relationship is rocky. The pattern of making hasty decisions, ego trips and unnecessary pain continues. They have a messy storyline which botched their chance to show growth and respect for each other. Thanu and Padbok’s conflict is drawn out unnecessarily long. Pha’s death is treated as the final reason to cement the relationship between Thanu and Wayu. It may upset some. The terminal illness is taken advantage of to propel the story. It shows an unauthentic representation of the disease. Pha’s decision to break up with Wayu due to his illness is understandable. But Wayu’s reactions felt lukewarm at times. Jack and Koh are still treated as the comic duo. They are not offered a solid plotline. These characters do not show any further development. They remain flat characters throughout the season. Sandy’s character is treated as a trashy villain who has nothing worth doing besides messing with others relationship. Mark and Kit is the most mature couple yet their interactions are limited throughout this season. Instead of spending more time with each other they spend most apart. Their plotline felt unnecessary. They had to endure difficulties if Kit won the scholarship. But why not let them experience it together? It caused them so much pain.

In-Depth Analysis

Season 2 of Gen Y offers less in terms of plotline and more in terms of conflicts and anger issues, messy breakups, and fights amongst friends. It diminishes the charm of the story. It put a damp mood over the overall plot line. Some fights were extremely unnecessary. It may cause the audience to drop the season. The characters could have shown more development throughout the season. However, their main focus is not on actually building healthy relationships with their partners. This season was the much anticipated sequel to Gen Y the series. But in terms of execution in felt sloppy and rushed as compared to season one. The cliff-hanger left in season one is continued in episode one of Season 2. Even though season 2 has a lot to offer, the acting and direction felt a bit off. The storyline uses a lot of clichés and stereotypes throughout the season which may or may not be enjoyed by all.

Star Power

The actors tried their best to provide strength to the plot line which felt unnecessary in some cases. However the viewers waiting for the sequel may be able to look over some of these issues and enjoy the series as much as possible. Some actors played their parts very well. However, they had limited screen times.

Overall Opinion

To be honest season 2 of Gen Y felt like a rushed production in terms of lacking storyline. It had a lot of strength to develop from season one but it fell short in many places.
