Drama digest
When a brilliant young lady she once befriended reappears as a shell of her former self, a prosperous painter’s idyllic existence begins to unravel at the edges.
As she grew up, Jeong Hui-Ju (played by actress Ko Hyun-Jung) had a rough time. She is now a well-known artist as well as a writer. Her husband is the successor of a hospital, and they have two children. Although her family life looks to be perfect, Jeong Hui-Ju believes she is squandering her time. At that moment, Jeong Hui-Ju meets a woman. The woman, like young Jeong Hui-Ju, is destitute, yet she still shines.
The feel-good part
The drama is a non-typical Korean drama, complex yet engaging. There was never a lack of content in the drama’s storyline.
The plot of the story is realistic, unlike several other dramas. Domestic violence, marital strife, parental love and neglect, high school bullying culture, and other real-life issues are all part of the drama.
The disappointing factor
Because the fantastic second half has potentially low odds, the drama would have been more robust if they had finished up the entire plot within one season.
In-depth analysis
The plot focuses on answering mysteries behind Hee Joo’s fall from grace. The female character seemed to have it all; she had a difficult start but now has two gorgeous children, a devoted husband, a great home, and a nourishing painting profession, yet something still seems to plague her. When her daughter Ri-Sa (Su-an Kim) suffers a horrific accident, Hee-Joo is surprised to run upon someone she knew in the past, Hae Won (Shin Hyon Bin), who is a ghost of her previous vibrant self. The meeting of Hee Joo and Hae Won is the start of a dreadful trip that will put everything Hee-Joo thinks she knows to the test.
Star power
The whole ensemble performs a fantastic job, and there are many fascinating minor characters, but the main heroes, Go Hyun-iuna and Shin Hyun-been, are superb. The performers are all exceptionally gifted, and their skills are well utilized.
Apart from the primary protagonists, all other roles had a well-thought-out tale plot and depth.
Overall opinion
The narrative notion is interesting, and filmmaker Im Hyun Wook has created some beautifully interwoven moments that give viewers shivers. “Reflection of You” isn’t a new favorite, but it’s under-rated.
However, some viewers may find this narrative dark and depressing.
