The Feel-Good Part

This drama does an excellent job of creating a storyline that piques the interest of the viewers and keeps everyone thrilled and questioning the conclusion of the story. The cinematography is spectacular and keeps the viewer glued to the screen. It is so well done that it manages to keep the flaws shoved into a corner. The performances delivered by the actors are stunning. The actors bodied their roles, putting such conviction that they almost looked too real.

The writing impresses at many parts, especially with the unprecedented plot twists and the character development. The antagonists are cleverly written, and they do not seem flat or monotonous. Another factor that works to the show’s favor is the writers’ decision to avoid any sort of romantic development between the leads. The focus remains on the thrill, and we do not need to sit through an unnecessary romance.

The Disappointing Factor

The writing lags in some parts. The second half of the show does not really hold up to all the expectations set up by the first. The ending becomes predictable at one point, and the onslaught of plot twists becomes overbearing. The likeability of the characters falters midway, and some of the loopholes become way too obvious for the liking of an intelligent viewer.

In-Depth Analysis

This k-drama is an excellent attempt at handling a nonlinear sequence of events and different timelines. The elements of thrill and tension work for the most part and the plot twists are exciting enough to yield anticipation. The acting and cinematography make it highly memorable. On the flip side, the faltering writing and the flawed second half make it slightly dull. There are plot points that make the story a little too overdone at parts.

Star Power

Actress Lee Seyoung is marvelous in this. For one, she lends Ae Ri her gravity and her likeability. Out of all the performances delivered by the actors, hers is the most stunning.

Overall Opinion

Overall, this is an interesting watch if you choose to ignore a few flaws spread out throughout the show.
