Drama Digest

The drama revolves around the romantic relationships involving workers in the office of a meteorological department. A romance drama that is more unpredictable than localized heavy rains, this drama has four main leads Jin Ha Kyung, Lee Shi Woo, Han Ki Joon, Chae Yoo Jin. Each of them has their unique personalities.

The Feel-Good Part

The drama has the background set in the meteorological office, something that has similar tones to grey’s anatomy but based on weather forecast. The unique personalities that are thrown together is fun to watch. Especially as the hiccups withing relationships occur. Park and Yoon as the ensemble cast have done a good job of their roles. There are also no explicit scenes in this drama. It’s a workplace drama that is set in the weather forecast department. So, in that regard its esoteric. This drama would be appealing for those who are interested in the know-how of weather forecasting and related things. It is very realistic and goes at a slow pace mimicking how things would run in real life. It’s a drama that covers a lot like overcoming challenges in life, the work-life of a weather forecaster, the trope where in a relationship the woman is older to the man, realistic problems etc.

The Disappointing Factor

Extremely confusing directions in the first episode. There is no continuity in the tone or the theme of the script at all. It wants to be taken as a romance drama but at the same time is very slow-paced, drags through unnecessarily at some parts, and even has side characters that are sub-par. It feels like the plot is a patchwork of various templates put together, pushing through only because of the cast. There is very negligible chemistry between anyone of them. It feels like a drama between two mismatched individuals, then the plot drives into the weather forecasting workplace issues and then steers right into the melodrama surrounding the heartbreak and infidelity in the relationship. the female lead Ha kyung has come under scrutiny for being impassive and having little to no growth in her character. The main love interests in the show were portrayed as having problems constantly and having huge fights with one accusing the other of scamming money etc. between all of this there is no room to appreciate the chemistry between them. The female lead was written very poorly and had the same stiff expression throughout, unusual since Park Min Young has loads of experience and acting prowess on display in her previous works.

In-Depth Analysis

The weather forecast workplace drama ran its course in the show. After a while, all the problems seemed repetitive. The writers were trying too hard to make the flaws relatable, but the characters were not worth rooting for. The drama had potential given how it started, there were many different routes it could have taken given its mixed approach in the earlier episodes, however, as it progressed it kept getting worse. There is a lack of chemistry between the leads and this is another factor that makes the drama very lukewarm and not enjoyable at all. It does however show the incidents that happen as it does in real life. That is why it seems a bit slow in development. There are many aspects of this drama covered with its storytelling. The male lead and the tumultuous relationship with his father are one particular instance where the viewers can finally understand the character more in-depth.

Star Power

Park Min Young and Song Kang were the main leads of the show who starred along with actors like Yoon Park and Yura. Park Minyoung or PMY has a dedicated fanbase and has previously worked on dramas such as What’s wrong with secretary Kim?. Song Kang has also worked previously in the drama Sweet Home.

Overall Opinion

This show is very melodramatic and slow in its storytelling despite covering aspects that would normally win the viewers over. This outcome of the response to the show is surprising as the production had an excellent cast and the author of the script has previously worked in highly rated dramas. The show has gotten pretty mixed reviews and rightfully so. You may be interested in the show if you are inclined towards the workplace setting of a weather forecasting department. Apart from the pretty much everything in this show is a hit or a miss, it all depends on your threshold.
