Drama Digest

Would you believe me if I tell you there’s a third-generation chaebol heir who lacks money? Well, meet our hero Choi Ji Woo an indigent inheritor who has all the stereotypes of a third-generation successor except one ‘capital’. Every conglomerate descendant has a ‘phobia’ problem so does Choi Ji Woo, he has nyctophobia (fear of darkness). So, considering his exceptional conditions he operates a daytime bar. Meet our heroine Seo Joong Hee. This hardworking lady aspires to become a French Chef but despite her efforts and her with the current financial situation, she is barely even able to make ends meet. A chance encounter and a glass of mojito is all it takes for their lives to take a 180-degree turn. Watch this spellbinding tale to know what happens next.

The Feel-Good Part

Stories involving witchcraft are often charming to the audience. The fact that this show is also known as Mojito is quite interesting as it depicts the sweet and sour aspects of life. The economical instability of our protagonists is a common factor between them and it is also what draws them closer. Their blooming romance amidst their monetary struggle is what tells us to keep going. This story is capable of getting butterflies in your stomach and comical enough for you to ‘LOL’ it out.

The Disappointing Factor

The cinematography of the show might seem a little ancient considering the fact that it was shot in 2017 and was aired in 2021. It’s the same rich boy-poor girl, damsel in distress, and knight in shining armor concept this narrative has nothing new to offer, the writer could have done much more using the same concept. The trailer of the show is also a little old-fashioned owing to its period of filming.

In-Depth Analysis

This rom-com is a story we all know but we still watch it because we just can’t get over clichés. This drama was formerly named Mojito as it relates all the flavors we taste while having a mojito to the experiences in our life. This sweet and sour blend is what is responsible for its refreshing touch similar to the joys and sorrows we experience that are responsible for our development as adults. The four-year gap between the filming and the airing might result negatively in capturing the attention of the audience but it’s worth giving a try.

Star Power

Being former colleagues in the drama ‘High Society’ Sung Joon and Lim Ji Yeon oozed great chemistry as the Ji Woo-Joong Hee couple. Kim Yoon Hye(Seo Ye Ji) is a familiar face for the Vincenzo fans as she plays the part of a piano teacher in that drama. The acting skills of the extended cast were on a fairly good level.

Overall Opinion

Rom-Com clichés are still your thing? Well, you just found another one to add to your list.
