Drama Digest –

Tokyo MER stands for Tokyo’s Mobile Emergency Room, which is responsible for taking care of accidents and disasters happening in the city. Using the latest medical devices, they save the lives of the injured. Kitami Kota is a diligent person who faces challenges in his daily life of being an MER doctor.

The Feel-good Part –

Written by Tsutoma Kuroiwa and directed by Aya Matsuki and Shunichi Hirano, this Japanese Medical drama covers some exciting and complex situations faced by the doctors to save a patient’s life. The climax was unexpected, which is one of the main highlights of the story. It is one of the best medical dramas out there, this will be an absolute viewing pleasure. Not a single moment felt dull, slow or tiresome.

The Disappointing Factor –

The story became too ambitious in an attempt of entertaining the audience with topics like terrorism and politics. Some individual details are simply unconvincing. There are still some usual tropes, and there are times when the CG effect is a bit low in quality. The MER experiment is a relatively minor project in the broad scheme of Metropolitan and national politics, which can’t be such a critical factor in determining the political futures of the two ambitious women (one of them even having a severe heart condition).

In-Depth Analysis –

This show chronicles the organization’s events, helping the patients meet unfortunate accidents. It is a provocative and heart-warming story with good characterization and the emotional range shown among the doctors. They managed to have a balance in the medication, character growth, and also the power struggle. There are some sprinkles of well-delivered life lessons in between too. This is one good idealist medical drama with good chemistry actors.

Star Power –

The roles of Dr. Ottawa and Suzuka are appreciated by the viewers. Every character is portraying the role of a doctor gracefully with accurate medical scenes. There are great actors and actresses as the MER members that made the supporting characters are not just mere extra people for the team. The politicians and Shirota Yu also deserved the credit for making the story even more exciting. Kento Kaku could have portrayed an ambitious but idealistic bureaucrat with greater subtlety than the routine angry looks.

Overall Opinion –

A must-watch for the dramatic plot twists and a gripping storyline.
