Drama Digest

A small-town girl, Howan, travels to the musical Midi city to pursue her career in music. She meets Himeko, Delmin, and Ruhuyu, who are in the predicament of deciding where to take their musical careers. They quickly become friends and form a band.

The Feel-Good Part

It’s a cute comedy that will keep you entertained throughout. The anime was simple, heartwarming and even the somber points were heart-touching. You will definitely feel an attachment towards the characters. The performances are incredible, and the music is terrific. The plotline strikes just the right chords with the viewers.

The Disappointing Factor

Typically, challenges from external forces in most shows add an element of suspense to a situation, but I just didn’t feel that here. The conditions seemed too unrealistic at times, even after considering the entertainment-inclined intention of the show. This might feel tiresome at points. There is no character development and no connection between the characters and the audience.

In-Depth Analysis

The overall tone is very cheerful and light-hearted, but don’t expect it to remain that way the entire time. The show also has its share of serious moments throughout the season, and the transitions into these moments from the cheery vibe were smooth. The viewers can predict something is about to happen, but the smooth fluent transition is done beautifully, thereby preventing the viewers from getting jarred.

Star Power

Being an anime series, the show does not have a substantial starcast.

Overall Opinion

The band faces many challenges, such as overcoming the differences to form a bond. It enables them to work well together as bandmates. The other bands seem to have taken a particular interest in Mashumairesh, and the viewers can’t help but pin their hopes on the plot. But it changes to half-hearted, stale, and lifeless show that you can’t help but wonder if something went wrong during its production. Half the time it shows to be a light-hearted music show, and the other half it becomes a deeply emotional battle opera. However, it succeeds in being neither.
