Drama Digest

Shinitai Yoru Ni Kagitte is a romantic drama starring Kaku Kento and Yamamoto Maika as the lead pair. It’s an emotional drama balancing both joyful and sad moments of Ono Hiroshi’s (Kaku Kento) and Hashimoto Asuka’s (Yamamoto Maika) life. It revolves around an unhappy man’s encounter with various women and how they made him slowly regain his smile. Watch the series to know more.

The Feel-Good Part

The romance between the lead-pair is the only thing that makes this series watchable. Other than this, the only positive of this film is the cinematography. The color coding adds depth to the scenes and enhance the emotions of the actors. The series has an emotional-dynamics; unlike many other dramas which completely focus on a single emotion, it is a perfect blend of emotions; it has sufficient of every emotion- joy, sorrow, angry, surprise etc.

The Disappointing Factor

Everything other than the two points listed above needs improvement. Though the color coding helped in adding depth, the character development wasn’t proper and hence, we fail to connect with the emotion of the characters. The screenplay is dull and isn’t engaging,, it is confusing, even. Other than the youth, this story and the scenes will fail to connect to remaining age groups. The story itself is a backdrop because it has nothing new to show the audience.

In depth-Analysis

The story begins with Ono Hiroshi falling head over heels for Hashimoto Asuka since their schooling. Hashimoto Asuka’s initial opinion on Ono Hiroshi was not a positive one. Ono Hiroshi manages to gain Hashimoto’s impression and that’s when they journey begins. They stay together for six years. Six years of their togetherness is the plot on which most of the series deals with. Their memories together, their fights, their romance etc are mainly focused upon.

Star Power

There are very limited number of characters in the series and the best of all is the lead-pair. Both Kaku Kento and Yamamoto Maika have given their best performances and the romantic scenes between them are a bliss to watch. They are the pillars of this series.

Overall Opinion

Shinitai Yoru Ni Kagitte is a below average drama which I would recommend only if you are very bored and have nothing else to watch. An old-age story with an unengaging and a bit confusing screenplay are something that might irritate the audience. If you are someone who loves to watch love stories, then Shinitai Yoru Ni Kagitte is only for you and the rest can avoid watching this. Though the cinematography tries to enhance the emotions with color coding, the improper character development interrupts us from getting connected to the emotions of the characters. The sequences between the lead-pair are the only thing that makes some kind of impact on the audience and rest just completely fail.
