Drama Digest

A social comedy about eight mannequins who are brought to life by Maneki Towa, a former mannequin who teaches them about being human.

The Feel-Good Part

Knowing that this is a comedy, that description seems strange, but it works out well. The show was initially and mostly a comedy, but it did manage to pull off one of the better-executed story twists. The only debatable component of the show is the cast. Out of the nine key cast members, only Sato Taiki and Mizuno Miki have other acting credentials. Sato Taiki more than made up for his earlier performance as an actor. He directed the rest of Fanta in several situations without being pushy or ‘too brilliant.’ Miki from Mizuno was a fantastic choice, even better than Taiki. It was fantastic to have such a talented actor as the physical and metaphorical leader for the series. She had an uncanny ability to make people laugh.

The Disappointing Factor

Hori Natsuki and Seguchi Leiya have both previously acted in this series. Because they had an advantage over the other members of Fanta, their characters were given a little more attention and emphasis. In-Depth Analysis

A situational humor about eight mannequins who are birthed by Maneki Towa, a former mannequin, who teaches them about being human. The film is set in Shibuya PARCO and stars members of EXILE TRIBE’s FANTASTICS.

Star Power

The cast is the only dubious aspect of the show. Only Sato Taiki and Mizuno Miki have additional acting credits out of the nine major cast members. As an actor, Sato Taiki more than made up for his previous performance. In some scenes, he discreetly directed the rest of Fanta without being overbearing or ‘too excellent.’ Mizuno Miki was an excellent pick, even better than Taiki. It was ideal to have such an accomplished actress serve as the series’ physical and metaphorical guide. She had a great knack for getting others to laugh.

Overall Opinion

In terms of humour, Mannequin Night Fever gets a thumbs up! Even if you’re not a fan of EXILE TRIBE’s FANTASTICS! It’s a solid comedy with a steady pace and a short episode length of 25-ish minutes per episode, with only six episodes. It’ll make you laugh, and it’ll allow you to indulge your desire to roam through an empty department store late at night.
