Drama Digest

Under the cautious direction of Abera Hidenobu, he is back with another necessary medicine for the public with the series Mushoboke (ムショぼけ). This television drama aired on countrywide screens from the 3rd of October, 2021, to the 5th of December, 2021. The series falls under the genres of extreme comedy and drama.

The Feel-Good Part

It becomes interesting for the crowd to see the growth of an ex-convict after spending fourteen years in prison without a glimpse of the outer world. Moreover, the storyline exudes uniqueness in exploring the often shunned timeline of a person. The character of Mr. Kitamura is one of the pillars holding the show together for the fans.

TheDisappointing Factor

Fans have complained about the monotony of the script with zero excitement in the plot. As the story progresses, showing events in Sosuke’s life, it degrades in its comedic punch. Many of the character’s actions become annoying and meaningless.

In-Depth Analysis

In the miniseries, Mushoboke, Yakuza finds himself amid chaos as he gets out of the prison after fourteen-long years. Having no family and friends to rely on, we see Yazuka struggle in his present-day life. But that also brings in comedic situations as he amuses himself with the technology of this present era.

Star Power

The casting required extra thought and care to present a flawless series with exaggerated facial expressions before the audience. Therefore, the casting director thought twice before selecting actors for Mushoboke. The line-up involves Kitmamura Yukiya as Jinnai Sosuke, Itao Itsuji as the warden, Suenari Yumi as Sosuke’s mother, Takeda Rena as Lisa, Narumi Yui as Natsuki, Yamasaki Ryutaro as Kaito, Osamura Koki, Kujo Joe as Hiro, Matsuo Satoru as Satoshi, Kinoshita Houka as Hiramatsu.

Overall Opinion

As the miniseries lasts only ten episodes, you can catch up with Mushoboke and entertain yourself with a light-hearted drama this weekend. Moreover, there are talks from the director’s side on a second season.
