Drama Digest

The series follows the investigations of a wheelchair-bound cop called Onizuku Ichiro.

In the prequel, Ichiro is appointed to the Shinjuku Higashi Police Precinct in their Criminal Affairs Division to head its judicial section as he has solved a number of cases. He and his assistant Tooyam Saki, examine the less crucial ones.

In this series, Ichiro looks at the case of a dead man named Matsumoto Yugo who is found dead in the Botanical Garden. Yugo’s name sounds familiar to Ichiro and, he realizes that Yugo had filed a report for a stolen bike a month earlier.

In, tandem with Saki and his other assistant, Jin Keitaro, he begins his investigation.

With a new police chief in town and, he is not pleased that Ichiro and his division are entering his terrain, resulting in skirmishes between them.

The Feel-Good Part

The twists and turns at every turn keeps us hooked. Also, the fact that the less critical cases are quite fascinating and probably murkier than it seems makes it better.

The Disappointing Factor

None

In-Depth Analysis

When one is injured for life, one can either positively or negatively. When Ichiro’s legs lose their movement owing to a criminal stabbing them, Ichiro does not lose hope.

Although he is experienced, he is assigned to a lesser-known division in a police precinct to look into less important cases. These are known to all, but are not given its time as they are not priority.

This time, he investigates the mysterious death of Yugo, who had filed complaint about a stolen bike a month back. Why would some one kill Yugo and what is the connection to the missing bike have to his death? Ichiro and his assistants Saki and Keitaro set out to work.

But no drama is complete without an adversary, and in this series, it is the new police chief Azuma Kanata who dislikes Ichiro and his team entering his jurisdiction.

Cracking the death and taking on Kanata forms the story.

Star Power

Ichiro played by Kitaoji Kinya is splendid and is assisted well by the other members.

Overall Opinion

If you like murder thrillers, this one is for you. But do watch the prequel prior to this.
