Drama Digest:

The age of Oshi Hana is 78. She becomes aware of her differences from those her own age. She makes an effort to appear younger than her actual age while spending time with her husband, kids, and grandchildren.

The Feel-Good Part:

The best aspect of the show is how well it moves along without becoming too engrossed in the concept. In addition, the story never becomes dull.

The Disappointing Factor:

It differs from the typical Japanese drama in that it is more realistic and biographical in nature. So it might create disappointment in viewers who like the classic ones.

In-Depth Analysis:

The phrase “I’m going to die soon anyway” is frequently spoken by elderly individuals, as if there were nothing to say in response. When she isn’t on her guard, 78-year-old Oshi Hana rejects this seeming response right away. She is a woman who takes great care to look good. She was told by a boutique employee ten years prior that she only vaguely resemble 70. She realized then that she would have to work harder to appear younger than her actual age. Hana now resides in a nearby apartment in retirement after handing over the liquor store she and her late husband Iwazo had been operating to their son Yukio.

She has kept her beauty and youth and grins with pleasure at the first class reunion in ten years because she believes that persons over the age of 60 should make an effort so that their actual age is not noticeable. “I’m glad I married Hana,” is Iwazo’s go-to expression. Hana is confident that she will live a reasonably happy old life because she is supported by her loving husband, their two children, and their grandchildren. However, Iwazo suddenly falls, and things change in an unanticipated way.

Star Power:

Oshi Hana played by Mita Yoshiko, a 78-year-old who realized 10 years ago that she appeared older than her actual age. She has avoided getting old and is relishing the present. Oshi Iwazo, Oshi Hana’s spouse of more than 50 years, is portrayed by Ono Takehiko. He is a year older than she is. His son Yukio now owns the liquor store that he inherited from his parents. He solely enjoys folding origami. The Oshis’ daughter Kuroi Mai is portrayed by Matsushita Yuki. Her well-known blog offers suggestions for living. The Oshi’s son, Oshi Yukio, is played by Murasugi Seminosuke. He oversees the family’s liquor store. His weakness is Yumi, his wife.

Overall Opinion:

If you enjoy comedic dramas with a hint of reality and family drama, you’ll enjoy this one.
