Drama Digest
The story starts in Constable Watanabe Shogoro (Higashiyama Noriyuki) of the Honmachi Magistrate’s Office, where Inokichi (Kishi Yuta), arrives unannounced looking for him.Things in the Edo village begin to alter after the arrival of Inokichi. Saizo and Ryoji have known each other for a long time, but Saizo has a secret passion that Ryoji is unaware about. Inokichi also learns about the village’s widespread corruption and nepotism. He devises a plan to expose those who commit wrongdoing to combat nepotism without jeopardizing the safety of his family and close ones. But not even Shogoro could have predicted that Bankuru’s appearance, which sent Edo into a frenzy, would be the start of a new tragedy.
The Feel-Good Part
The story has a lot of twists that are sure to keep you at the edge of your seats if you are a fan of the action genre. The historical society in this drama is depicted with utmost care and precision. The best part is the hint of romance the writer has provided in the movie between Inokichi and Miyo (Takatsuki Sara) is very heartwarming.
The Disappointing Factor
The series is set in a historical setting, and thus makes it difficult for international audiences to comprehend a few of the traditional Japanese practices shown in the movie.
In-Depth Analysis
Unannounced, Inokichi (Kishi Yuta) of the Honmachi Magistrate’s Office, who works under policeman Watanabe Shogoro (Higashiyama Noriyuki), aarrives seeking him. Masumura Rintaro (Namase Katsuhisa), Shogoro’s superior, assigned him after he couldn’t stand Shogoro’s laziness. Kishida Tojiro (Kimura Ryo) was apprehended by Inokichi after attempting to assault the town’s girls. However, after seeing Kishida’s face, Masumura rushes the case to the magistrate’s office and closes it up. Simultaneously, through his daily work, picture framer Ryoji (Matsuoka Masahiro) is reunited with an old acquaintance, painter Saizo (Nishihata Daigo). Ryoji recognizes Saizo’s artistic aptitude, despite his inarticulacy and introversion. Inokichi is patrolling the streets of Edo the next day when he notices Tojiro, whom he had apprehended, wandering lazily. When he takes the case to the magistrate’s office, Masumura insists that the decision was made after discussing it with his superiors. In reality, Tojiro got off easy because he is the son of Kishida Juemon (Kaneda Akio), the commissioner of finance. Inokichi, who has nowhere to vent his rage, tells his younger brother Saizo that there is a legion of wicked people who are virtually unknown to the rest of the world. He has Saizo scribble remarks accusing the store of wrongdoing on the wall of a store that sells diluted sake. The “graffiti” exposing the booze store’s misdeeds causes a worldwide sensation and is dubbed “Bankuru”, this starts the journey of Inokichi and Saizo to bring a reform in their society.
Star Power
This movie does have a very popular cast which gives the audience all the more reasons to watch it, even if it’s for their favorite character. Higashiyama Noriyuki, is a very prominent character in almost all Hissatsu Shigotonin series, and his acting skills are phenomenal, judging from his various works like Cop Seven and VS Arashi. Kishi Yuta and Nishihata Daigo’s guest roles in this movie play a significant role in attracting the audience to this movie.
Overall Opinion
In conclusion, Hissatsu Shigotonin 2022 Special is an action genre movie that would be well-liked by the audience that loves a historical setting and appreciates the efforts put in by the crew members to put up and maintaining the set. This movie is bound to get you on the edge of your seats but a bit difficult for the international audience to understand because of the difficulty in remembering the names of the characters and also due to the traditional practices being different. As far as the rating of the movie goes, this is worth it’s rating but is still a one-time watch. With guest roles of people like Kishi Yuta and Nishihata Daigo, this audience was excited and willing to watch the movie just for the sake of looking at them. This movie has a strong cast that did commendable work portraying their characters.
