Drama Digest

Greek mythology’s Elpis, known as the spirit of hope, centers on Asakawa Ena, a talented announcer who lost her job due to a scandal, Kishimoto Takuro, a young variety show director, and Saito Seiichi, a talented reporter, as they cooperate to uncover the truth about a case of serial killings for which the death penalty has been imposed.

The Feel-Good Part

At first glance, the characters seem cautious, if not afraid, because they will be up against people who are well-known and respected in society. All the characters are very realistic, and one would definitely find their emotions to be quite realistic and relatable. Furthermore, a show is nothing without character development. This show provides exactly that by showing how each of the characters breaks out of their shells, which is refreshing to watch. The characters form an important part of the show, and they are also perfectly portrayed by the actors who are assigned roles for them.

The Disappointing Factor

The only disappointing factor is your personal preference and how well this show catches your interest. One might not like the unique take this show has on investigating cases related to reputed and well-known people in society. As a result, it might be up to their preference, and they might drop this show as a whole after watching a couple of episodes. The first episode is not as convincing or gripping in keeping the viewers’ interest and attention; therefore, the show requires a bit of patience in order to truly reach the stage of enjoying it.

In-Depth Analysis

Masami Nagasawa’s character, Ena Asakawa, is a broadcast station announcer. Her efforts have been praised, and she is now a news anchor on a prime-time program. One day, Ena Asakawa is seen kissing on the street by a monthly magazine and is captured, which brings her into the light of the media. Ena Asakawa leaves the news show as a result of the scandal that follows. She subsequently takes a position as the host of a late-night informational piece. Takuro Kishimoto, a new filmmaker, is her collaborator (with Gordon Maeda). He has outstanding credentials, including a degree from an esteemed institution, a wealthy family, and a dashing look, yet his rating as a director is low. She has to start working with him soon. Takuro Kishimoto starts to question a death row inmates guilt after an unexpected encounter. The death row inmate was found guilty in a case of multiple young female murders. With the assistance of ace reporter Seiichi Saito, Ena Asakawa and Takuro Kishimoto begin their pursuit of the truth regarding the serial murder case (Ryohei Suzuki) and uncover several hidden secrets.

Star Power

Nagasawa Masami, who plays Asakawa Ena; Maeda Gordon, who plays Kishimoto Takuro; and Suzuki Ryohei, who plays Saito Seiichi, together form the main cast of the show, and do a fabulous job. The supporting characters are also worthy of appreciation.

Overall Opinion

Since this program perfectly combines mystery, drama, and real-world events, viewers will undoubtedly like watching it. You should definitely watch this male love drama if you want a change of pace from the other dramas you are currently watching or if you want something fresh. Indeed, this is a refreshing drama.
