Drama Digest

Dogenegers: High School, by Tokyo MX, is the third season of the famous Japanese series ‘Dogenegers’. The first two seasons are ‘Dogenegers’ and ‘Dogengers: Nice Buddy’ respectively. A storyline regarding fantasy and superhero action, this series talks about some local heroes and their battle with the evil ones. Once, while the local heroes were gone to film a TV show, the evil guys attacked and took control of the protected areas. In the process, they gained a lot of power. Due to this, the heroes lost their popularity and have to find a way to recover their lost glory.

The Feel-Good Part

The series has a lot of good fighting scenes. The animations are quite good too. A special point about this series is that there exists a unique fighting type for each of the characters, which is showcased while introducing them. This greatly captures the attention of the viewers and is a plus point while watching the series. Few scenes are comedic as well and others will keep you intrigued and glued to your seat. Moreover, it is a short watch and hence, perfect for when you are a bit short of time.

The Disappointing Factor

The series could have been way more fun if the plot was executed in a better manner. The storyline is quite weak as well. Few scenes are tedious to watch. The pace of the series is slow and the story lacks depth.

In-Depth Analysis

The story of this season revolves around an ordinary girl named Yamada Mako. She is a pretty average girl without anything out of the ordinary. Everything about her and her life is average including her exam scores, her physical fitness and even her choice of food and men. The place where she lives has both good and evil people who fight with each other and the local heroes try to upkeep justice every time. However, by a sudden turn of events, Yamada finds herself on a new path to becoming a hero. The series focuses forward on how the life of an average girl then remains anything but average.

Star Power

The powerful cast of Dogengers: High School includes Yua Shiraishi as Ryoko Shichimi, Umino Kawamura as Meiho Fushimi, Rennosuke Moriyama as Daisuke Yoshiwara and Jun Yamasaki as Miko Yamada among the others.

Overall Opinion

Considering the short number of episodes and the action-drama storyline, this series is worth giving a try. So, get your popcorn and be ready to go on an adventure from average to something special.
