Drama Digest

High school student Nao, who considers her life “regular,” is one day approached by her enigmatic classmate Kiri in the library. Kiri invites Nao to accompany her as they investigate the crime scene of a murder in Kiri’s neighborhood, which Kiri is using as the basis for a book she is writing. Sisters Haru and Kei, meanwhile, see their father being thrashed by someone at their cabin in the mountains. The sister tried to get away, but the perpetrator pursued her. After failing the entrance exam for a music college, Kotone now works at her father’s coffee business. The environment is good, and she works alongside Kazushi, a childhood buddy. Kanon, her younger sister, worries about Kotone but is more focused on her band. Standing in the rain on her balcony is an enigmatic girl. What is seen beyond the gate? The borders between each woman progressively dissolve, resulting in the intersection of these four stories.

The Feel-Good Part

The drama packs a punch and feels like a high-tier production, especially considering that it is a Japanese drama. The performance by the girls add value to the series as a whole.

The Disappointing Factor

The only thing that brings down the whole show is the script. As much as the performances and the production tried to save the script, they failed to do because it was miserable. Nothing could save the show or make up for it, and as a result, the dialogues, and the development of the plot episode after episode felt lackluster and one might doze off during such scenes.

In-Depth Analysis

A mystery classmate named Kiri approaches Nao, a high school student who claims to have a “regular” life, one day in the school library. Kiri invites Nao to accompany her as they investigate the murder site in her neighborhood, which serves as the basis for her upcoming novel. Sisters Haru and Kei, meanwhile, see someone beating their father on the roof of their hilltop cabin. The attacker pursued the sister when she ran away. Kotone, who failed the audition for music college, now works at her father’s coffee business. The environment at work, where she works with her childhood pal Kazushi, is cheerful. Kanon, her younger sister, worries about Kotone but focuses on her band throughout the day. A mystery girl is standing in the rain on her balcony. What can be seen beyond the gate? As the borders between each girl eventually dissolve, these four stories will converge.

Star Power

The performances of Morita Hikaru as Mori Nao, Saito Kyoko as Katayama Kiri, Watanabe Risa as Yatsuji Haru, Hamagishi Hiyori as Yatsuji Kei, Kobayashi Yui as Ichihara Kotone, Hayakawa Seira as Ichihara Kanon, and Endo Sakura as Matsumiya Yuuki are outstanding.

Overall Opinion

This drama is great to watch. If you enjoy suspense and thriller-based dramas, regardless of the plot they have to offer, and then this is a good bet for you.
