Drama Digest

Mob suddenly realizes he lives in a BL world! He must decline any hot males that approach him since he prefers girls. There is simply no avoiding public displays of devotion because that is their world.

The Feel-Good Part

The best part of this series, which uses the power of parody to great effect, is everything that takes place in the background of the stage; it truly gives the impression that you are in a world where the BL rules. Its brief running time also works to its advantage because it makes it easier for you to get into the action and join in on the absurdity.

The Disappointing Factor

The only disappointing thing about this whole series is the romance storyline. The storyline related to romance could have been developed in a better way in order to not leave viewers cringing after each and every romantic encounter the character faces. This could make it worth adding the romance tagline to the show. At the same time, the foreshadowing of the romance with the other characters could have been better paced instead of one after the other jumping over the main character.

In-Depth Analysis

Atsuhiro Inukai’s character “Mob” (a typical college student living a typical life) had never once given the possibility that his life may be anything other than typical any thought. Mob was concerned that he would spend the rest of his life living an ordinary, normal life, with each day repeating itself exactly as the one before. But Mob has an instantaneous insight that turns his everyday reality on its head and makes him see the world in a completely different way. Now that he is fully aware that he is living in a “world of BL,” Mob can’t seem to move without becoming entangled in some lads’ love stories. Mob is surrounded by males whose entire ambition in life appears to be to find love, from his schoolmates to his own younger brother. Mob gives himself the position of a supporting character in an effort to prevent himself from taking on the role of the protagonist in this universe, but despite his best efforts, he is unable to avoid the love stories that are playing out all around him. Mob fights back as best he can against the onslaught of smitten boys, but even as he struggles, he senses his resolve eroding. Mob starts to question how much longer he will be able to deny the inevitable when one specific youngster steals his heart.

Star Power

Inukai Atsuhiro, who plays “Mob,” is the main cast and carries forward the whole show fabulously. Yutaro, who plays Ayato [Mob’s younger brother], Shiono Akihisa, who plays Toujou [Ayato’s boyfriend], Ito Asahi, who plays Kikuchi [Mob’s classmate], along with other supporting roles, provide the much-needed visuals and deliver their roles effortlessly.

Overall Opinion

As I previously stated, this series caters to a very specific audience, and while I do not dispute that all audiences can enjoy it, I believe that if you are not a fan of Black Lightning, understanding some jokes or colloquial situations may not be as funny. At times like these, you need a production that doesn’t take itself too seriously while still aiming to produce a high-quality product.
