Drama Digest

Yukiko is a single woman living her life in May 2020. She and her ex-husband Motoo got divorced four years ago, and today she works at a supermarket. After divorcing Yukiko, Motoo is also unmarried at the moment. He is a salesman for a small to a mid-sized design firm. Despite the four years since their last communication, Motoo accidentally calls Yukiko.

The Feel-Good Part

This drama shows that relationships between two people, even after getting a divorce, can stay non-toxic. The scene where Motoo asks her how her work is going was a very heartwarming moment. There are many movies and dramas out there which show unhealthy relationships after breakups and divorces, but this has a deeper story than just surface toxicity.

The Disappointing Factor

The disappointing factor was that this drama would have been better if it was a short movie, as it felt very slow-paced throughout the series. Even after having just four episodes, some loose ends were not tied.

In-Depth Analysis

Yukiko, a divorcee, employed by a supermarket, has been given control of a location in Tokyo. Motoo, a salesman who is divorced and works for a mid-sized design firm, has had difficulty adjusting to remote work because he is not used to it. They were both married to one another and separated roughly four years ago. Motoo calls Yukiko by accident one day even though they haven’t spoken since then. Surprised, Yukiko unwillingly accepts this unusual contact from her ex-husband. She is stopped by Motoo from abruptly ending their conversation because they had not spoken before. Motoo queries whether something occurred at work because she was alarmed by Yukiko’s demeanor when she answered the phone.

Star Power

Yoshida Yoh won multiple awards as a supporting role but this genre was a new one for her so, she is a little lacking in it. Oizumi Yo has also been nominated for many awards, proving his capability as an actor, but this genre being uncommon, the acting was not satisfactory.

Overall Opinion

This short drama focusing on relationships after a divorce  is a one-time watch and might seem slow-paced at some point in time. This is a drama you would enjoy if you like slow and melancholic gestures in a series.
