Drama Digest

Adachi Kiyoshi, still a virgin at 30, is bestowed with the ability to read minds. Initially overwhelmed by his new ability and not really finding it helpful, things start changing when he accidentally touches Kurosawa Yuichi, whom he learns has romantic feelings for him.

The Feel-Good Part

Adachi is a relatable introverted character, after gaining his new ability, it is delightful to see him slowly overcoming his weaknesses for a better life. Kurosawa is the exact opposite of him- extroverted, helping everyone out and a perfect portrayal of a salaryman but when it comes to Adachi, Kurosawa just wants to stay beside him and make him smile. It has the classic trope of opposites attract and the leads have amazing chemistry which intensifies with every episode. All the characters feel very real and the execution is quite well. Adachi lacks self-confidence and does not fight for himself or others when needed but with his new ability things change for the better, he does not use the power for himself but to help those around him and is steadily and slowly becoming a better version of himself. Kurosawa is very respectful of Adachi’s feelings and kind towards him and the leads are beautiful together, it is a heartwarming story. The side couple is sweet and purely entertaining. The background music really hits when needed.

The Disappointing Factor

The only thing that could come to notice is about the side couple. Their story could have more progress if they were given more care, if not as much as the main couple but whatever we could get was certainly entertaining.

In-Depth Analysis

If the synopsis might be off-putting to some, the drama certainly takes care of that and handles topics with the needed sensitivity. Throughout the episodes, the character development was very beautiful to see, it shows a beautiful journey of self-acceptance for Adachi and for Kurosawa to have a sweet life with him. There were many entertaining characters and parts, and all of it was executed well without any cringe. The acting was simply perfect, from Adachi’s anxiety to Kurosawa’s difference in demeanour when it came to Adachi. The side couple was good and could have used more exploration if screentime permitted perhaps. The story is as lighthearted as emotional and is balanced well with some comedy.

Star Power

All the characters were extremely well played. Machida Keita is simply perfect in his role, completely absorbed in his character as if it comes naturally to him and there is no one who could have played Adachi better than Akaso Eiji.

Overall Opinion

It’s a perfect drama, if the first few episodes might not feel to be working out, but certainly, you will fall for the main couple, something widely referred to as the cherry magic effect. The drama is absolutely rewatch- worthy and the music is emotional at times when needed and pretty nice to listen to.
