Drama Digest

This series is a Thai mystery and psychological thriller that represents the lives of pop idols. The show particularly revolves around the lives of six members of a girl idol group and the mysteries and secrets surrounding them as they get revealed one by one.

The Feel-Good Part

The best and most intriguing thing about the show is that there are no good or bad characters. The characters who seem nice have some unusual things going on in their lives and the characters who seem evil are actually the nicest ones. The story is amazingly interesting with a lot of twists and turns. Another interesting thing about it is that it has a unique ending which is not a happy one which is unusual for shows to do. All the actors performed well while playing their characters.

The Disappointing Factor

The series has some elements like suicide, rape, murder, etc, that some viewers can find disturbing. It also portrays some crazy fans’ behavior toward their pop idols which is again pitiful to watch.

In-Depth Analysis

Fame, the female protagonist of the series is into rock music and has loved it for a long time. But a mysterious incident surrounds fame’s life in a really short time. And this incident is regarding a female pop idol group called as ‘Newtype.’ There were seven members in this group namely Yok, Smile, Yui, Kirin, Minnie, Minor, and Farn. Out of these people, Farn had passed away mysteriously and suddenly by committing suicide. This case is related to Fame as Farn was her sister. To find the truth behind her sister’s death and the secrets surrounding the group. After Farn’s death, all the other members’ lives became suspicious too. Fame auditions and tries to fit into this group in order to find the truth. She does all this with the help of her male friend, Kla. As soon as she starts investigating, she learns that all the members have violated the rules set for them by their company as idols. From here, the start starts getting darker and darker with each episode. Every character in the series has their own story. Talking about characters, Smile is a diplomatic and pretentious character because her behavior is different towards different people. Her relationship with her mother has caused her to be like this. Fame, the female lead, is an extremely balanced character. She knows how to handle her personal and professional lives well but is still wanting revenge for her sister because of her grief due to her loss. Minnie, who had made small mistakes and had gotten her fame affected was beaten up and raped by Kla. Minnie’s character is aimed at representing the harsh practices idols have to go through and the cost it comes at. Kirin had had a plastic surgery due to some reasons in her past. Farn, who was also a victim of all these harsh practices, had committed suicide before getting her life completely spoiled in the crutches of fame. In the end, Fame realizes that Farn committed suicide for a reason and that she doesn’t need to avenge her death anymore. All the mysteries get solved one by one on the show.

Star Power

The characters which really stood out were Fame and Smile. These two actresses acted the best out of everyone else and did justice to their characters.

Overall Opinion

The drama depicts the real lives of pop idols and the hardships they have to go through. As most people today are interested in pop culture, this drama can be for most of the people.
