Drama Digest

Based on the Turkish series “Until Death”, Barb Ayuttitham follows Chitawan, a medical student in prison after getting framed for the murder of his fiance’s father, a famous conglomerate. Eleven years later, when he finally leaves jail with legal assistance from Plaifhon, he resolves to avenge himself and punish everyone who framed him for a crime he did not commit.

The Feel-Good Part

This is an action-heavy lakorn with a speedy pace that breezes through several complicated plotlines and keeps the viewer entertained throughout.  The story is thrilling and always keeps you on your toes. There is a good balance between the arcs of revenge and romance. This show is a good subversion from regular lakorns that shift between purely revenge, action, or the quintessential slap-kiss ones. Boy Pakorn and Gina Yeena Salas are incredible, and their chemistry has the remarkable element of holding one’s attention.

The Disappointing Factor

There are a few flaws in this show, the most evident one being the editing. The story and the presentation are excellent, but often the episodes and the previews in this series are designed in such a way that they look disjointed and parts of whole different shows altogether. The editing in the lakorn, as a whole, is a little weak. Some of the characters are not appropriately explored, even though there is significant scope. One of them is Ploy, who feels like a useless addition when her arc adds nothing to the plot, despite her being an interesting character altogether.

In-Depth Analysis

Barb Ayuttitham is one of the most exciting lakorns in recent times. It features an interesting concoction of romance and action, along with an element of mystery. The show does not become predictable, and the direction is commendable. The OST is a beautiful 2000s rock-reminiscent track that is pleasant to listen to. The actors all deliver powerful performances. Boy Pakorn is remarkable as the lead, portraying the protagonist’s spectrum of vengeful emotions with skilful ease.

There are a few things that act like drawbacks in this show, especially the editing that acts as an impediment to the intent of building up anticipation as the episodes progress. The antagonist could have been written better, and some characters are not utilised to their full potential.

However, the pros manage to outnumber the cons in this lakorn.

Star Power

Boy Pakorn is incredible and is easily the best part of this lakorn. Gina Yeena is an unexpected powerhouse here, and her chemistry with Boy Pakorn is one of the highlights of this show.

Overall Opinion

This is an exciting watch, with a story that packs a punch and truly impressive characters. Overall, this is an entertaining lakorn and will not be a waste of time if you decide on watching it.
