Drama Digest

The story tells about various bizarre mysteries such as “Blood Soul Forest,” “Pauling Town,” and “Ghost Valley” that Bao Zheng experienced in his youth on his way to Beijing to rush to the exam.

The Feel-Good Part

The narrative of a boy trying to clear his mother’s identity and getting tangled up in cases that require his skills and intelligence to pass through, is like a game that a player has to play to get to the boss level. This is a historical drama that might be intriguing for a portion of the audience.

The Disappointing Factor

The writing is relatively poor, and the narrative could have been developed more. The series’ setup could have been described in more detail. The subsidiary narratives may have been well-written, although the editing can occasionally be disappointing with fighting scenes put there just to fill up the episode’s duration.

In-Depth Analysis

Young Bao Zheng travels to the nation’s capital to take the civil service exams. As he works alongside Gongsun Ce and Zhan Zhao to solve the crime, he comes across various riddles, starting a famous tale.

Three significant chapters make up the tale. By accident, Bao Da Niang is embroiled in a case. To clear his mother’s identity, Bao Zheng uncovers a slaughter connected to the ghost bride. Bao Zheng visits the Wuji Inn en route to the capital, where he utilizes his wits to solve the puzzles of the blood spirit forest. Finally, there is evidence that the Soul Village is involved in a significant palace plot.

Star Power

Every character did their best to bring out their character in the most beautiful way possible.  The series became a mix of all emotions, and everyone from the extras to the main characters did an excellent job.

Overall Opinion

This Historical drama focusing on the law and its functioning will entertain you if you love the action and historical genre with a hint of supernatural mystery.
