Anime Digest

Stand My Heroes: Piece of Truth is a Japanese Anime that aired from October 2019 to December 2019. The plot revolves around the theme of drugs related conflicts happening around Japan. Unable to halt the rising issues and conflicts regarding drugs in Japan, the department of police decides to create a separate unit, called STAND that would consist of expert professionals who are more suitable for this alarming issue.

The Feel-Good Part

Those anime fans who like to watch reverse harem might take a liking to this drama, because of it being a reverse harem. The OSTs of the anime are pretty nice to listen to and goes well with the scenes. The animation deserves a special shout out because of how well it is done.

The Disappointing Factor

Stand My Heroes: Piece of Truth fails to justify its given genre of Mystery and crime. In the entire anime consisting of 12 episodes, there were hardly scenes that would pose as mystery/crime. The characters had no growth and development, which makes the characters seem flat, the biggest disappointing factor of this anime would surely be the bland characters. The pace of the plot development is extremely slow and might test the patience of few because of its lack of elements in the plot.

In-Depth Analysis

The anime is based on a mobile game. The storyline involves the creation of STAND, which is a separate unit created to combat drug cases, a bunch of professionals with expertise in different areas are recruited for dissolving the issue of the rising drug crimes in Japan. Izumi Rei, the main female character, who is a law enforcement officer is selected to scout for STAND because of her being immune to most of the drugs. Izumi Rei stumble across many different personalities while scouting for STAND. The character of Izumi Rei is very poorly written and the same goes with the other characters of the anime.

Star Power

The main character of Izumi Rei has been voiced by Misato Murai. The character of Aoyama Itsuki has been voiced by Tomakazu Sugita, Shun Imaoji by Daisuke Namikawa, Satoru Watabei by Kousuke Toriumi, Kotaro Yui by Natsuki Hanae, Daisuke Seki by Tomoaki Maeno, Haru Natsume by Yuuki Kaji. The supporting cast includes voice actors such as Chiharu Sawashiro, Daiki Yamashita, Kotaro Nishiyama, Seiichiro Yamashita, Shunsuke Takeuchi, Taku Yashiro, Takuya Eguchi, Tetsuya Kakihara, Tomohito Takatsuka, Yusuke Shirai, Yoshitaka Yamaya, Yuichiro Umehara, Toshiki Masuda, etc.

Overall Opinion

The character of Izumi Rei with her immunity from drugs is quite bizarre and the writers too failed to provide a logical explanation to its viewers about this aspect, which is one of the many factors of this anime being a time waste. The storytelling is bad and some might even not understand what is going on due to its extreme slow pace. Overall, if you want to kill your time, there are better anime out there which you may watch but even so, Stand My Heroes: Piece of Truth isn’t the worst, and is somehow watchable because of its soundtrack and good animation.
