Drama Digest

A deputy chief of police named Qin Chi discovers after coming out of a coma that he supposedly led a group of his close friends on a stake-out that resulted in their all being killed, even the enemies and him being the only survivor. Qin Chi had amnesia before going into a coma. He must investigate what happened and his part in the events because he is the only survivor, the police suspect him of being a traitor, and all the witnesses are dead. He continues to be a detective in the meantime and works with his colleagues to unravel the many other mysteries behind a number of difficult cases and prove his innocence.

The Feel-Good Part

The show keeps you hooked till the end. It is interesting to watch how the whole mystery unfolds and what is going to happen in the end. The mystery build-up is so intense that you’ll want to complete the whole drama in one sitting. And the sublet mix of comedy is just perfect and exactly what the drama was in need of.

There are many intricate characters in the story with compelling character development. It is fascinating to watch how compulsive these people are.

The Disappointing Factor

There are a lot of plot holes in the drama. Some things are just left unexplained, and some things just don’t make sense. The drama is somewhere related to another drama named day and night. Well, basically it is a spin-off of that drama. There are some references to the other story in this show, which makes things more confusing and adds more pieces to the unsolvable puzzle this drama already is. Things are difficult to picture and how they are going to end up and these things make it more complicated.

In-Depth Analysis

Reborn is a psychological thriller and mystery drama. It is a fantastic crime drama and well perfectly capable of messing with your head. It doesn’t revolve around just the main story but there are many subplots in the drama which makes it more interesting to watch. The character arch is something you can look forward to. And the acting is kept plain and sublet, just what the drama was in need of. There is a lot of violence and fights in the show, a lot. It can be a little gruesome at some point for people who are not used to watching these types of action dramas.

The bad thing in the drama is the plot holes and the reference to other dramas. The director of both the dramas is the same. It is difficult to understand if the director wants to merge both the dramas and make it one in the foreseeable future or not because referring to the other drama in this one was something absurd and even if it was a spin-off, it took an unnecessary amount of time which could’ve helped in the progress of this show.

Star Power

The star cast is outstanding for this drama especially, Zhang Yi. He really gave the vibes of a maniac at some points in the show. The acting is a strong point in this drama.

Overall Opinion

Overall, the drama is very impressive and striking. If you are looking for a police drama with thrill and mystery, you should give this one a try.
