Drama Digest

Shrewd connivance has cleared the capital in the year 1928. The head of police has blamed his birthday festivity to detain eminent individuals in the classical business. At the crucial point in time when the Five Meridians were trapped in a perilous circumstance, Xu Yicheng figures out how to make all the difference. Another wave ascends before the primary wave dies down. Xu Yicheng’s old buddy Chen Weili sent him a note with the faintly noticeable signs of “wind” and “earth” before his lamentable passing.

After dispatching his examination, Xu Yicheng is shocked to discover that the Japanese are involved. Yu Fang, a beili of the Qing Dynasty, uncovers that the burial place of Imperial Noble Consort Shu Shen has been burglarized. Xu Yicheng is dispatched to determine the emergency at the Eastern Mausoleum. To forestall the plundering of irreplaceable assets and to observe the reality behind his companion’s demise, Xu Yicheng finds support from regal group relative Hai Lanzhu, Five Meridians junior Liu Yiming, Huang Kewu, and Fu Gui as they valiantly charge to Ping’an City.

The Feel-Good Part

To describe this drama in one word, ‘addictive’ would be the perfect choice. The drama has everything one would expect from a Chinese ancient mystery thriller. It has violence, romance, brotherhood, war, and a display of unity that will warm your heart. The female lead is not merely an object of love in the drama. She is also one of the active supporters in the movement, goes to the wars, and creates strategies that have an impact.

The Disappointing Factor

Too much twist and a weird ending is the only bad angle you can see in this otherwise masterpiece. As a fan of the ‘Mystery of Antique’ series, I have watched both seasons previously, I expected something very different for the ending. Not to spoil the show for the viewers, it is not a sad or happy ending per se, just a very different ending than what one would expect.

In-depth Analysis

The screenplay is great and the storyline is as amazing as you would expect from the series. One thing to note for the new viewers is that you do not need to watch the previous series to watch this one, storylines are completely different in all three parts. The plot is never dragged and the show moves at a good speed. There is no major character growth but who cares when the characters are already amazing?

Star Power

Xiao Qu is in the main role. He has previously been seen in and known for the ‘Bloody Romance’ and ‘My Fair Lady.’ He is a great performer and does not disappoint here either. Yuki Chen was previously seen in ‘Ashes of Love.’ We all love ‘Ashes of Love’ and her role as well. In other roles are Li Jiu Xiao and Wang Pei Han. All the actors perform very well which makes the show worth watching.

Overall Opinion

If you are into movies like ‘The Mummy’ and love ancient stuff, you will love the drama. Also, the romance is amazing, the costume, the CG, and the music, everything blends well with each other. Overall, it’s a fun watch.
