Drama Digest
“My First Love is Secret love” is a cute love story. Zhu Qian Shuang is a chubby girl who is teased of her weight by those around her. She likes Qiao Ye, her classmate. She is insecure of her weight, so she tries to lose weight before confessing her love. All of her efforts go down the drain as she couldn’t lose weight. Because of this she ends up not being able to confess and then they graduate and go separate ways. After a long time, she loses weight and reunites with him for her friend’s wedding. Will she be able to convey her feelings properly this time?
The Feel-Good Part
The story of their youth is very adorable. This story is very close to what we experience in reality. The interactions between Qiao Ye and Qian Shuang are very cute and fluffy.
The Disappointing Factor
Most of the story is set in past when they are still in school. It is slow paced and the writer raised hopes and then turned the ending into a disappointment.
In-Depth Analysis
Zhu Qian Shuang is a skinny girl who became chubby from her parent’s love. Her parents fed her a lot while she was studying which ended up making her fat during her crucial period of youth. People made fun of her because of her weight. Qiao Ye helps her which makes her fall in love with him. She thinks that she needs to lose weight to be with him and tries various methods but fails to lose weight. She ends up not conveying her feelings. The truth is that Qiao ye also likes her. They both end up not confessing due to various reasons. They graduate and go separate ways. She meets him again after a long time due to her friend’s wedding. This time she loses weight. But despite everything she does she doesn’t convey her feelings, so does Qiao Ye. They both end up not being together as a result of bad communication. Qian Shuang realises that even her chubby self is still her and she deserves love no matter what she looks like.
Star Power
Ling Ming Jun and Zhu Li Lan has great chemistry onscreen. Wang Yi Miao as the younger version of Qian Shuang did a great job.
Overall Opinion
Overall, this drama is neither too long nor too short it is perfect for watching. The story is ok and acting is also good. This is a realistic story which may not fit into one’s imagination of happy endings. It is worth watching.
