The Feel-Good Part

The landscapes depicted in the drama are stunning, and the cinematography is also excellent. The costumes are lovely. The chemistry between the characters are good. The music is the most beautiful aspect. It is enchanting and perfectly complements the scenes.

The Disappointing Factor

In the first few episodes, the drama is a little too fast-paced. The script is standard, and the editing is sloppy. Some sequences are not well-executed, and the CGI is mediocre.

In-Depth Analysis

Su Mo returned to Yun Huang after becoming King of the Sea to look for Bai Ying in the first episode. In the next episodes, there is a flashback to how they met 100 years ago in. Su Mo was the prince of the Bilou Sea, and his mission was to reinstate mermaids to the ocean. The mermaids were tormented and enslaved for their tears that transformed into pearls. Su Mo was enslaved and sent to Bai Ying as well.

Bai Ying was rescued by three goddess after she jumped from the Mirror tower. Cang Liu invaded Yun Huang and took control of the region. Bai Ying overcame with sorrow after regaining consciousness, feeling that her selfishness was to blame for demise of Kong Sang. She decides to carry out her responsibilities as a crown princess. Bai Ying and Su Mo reunited after a series of incidents. The story is clumsy in the first few episodes, but it picks up after the fifth. The battle scenes were well-coordinated, but the editing spoiled everything. The drama strayed from the novel and emphasized the romance side.

Star Power

The three main protagonists did an excellent job delivering their roles. The cold and emotionless personality of Su Mo was wonderfully represented by Li Yifeng. Yukee Chen was fine as Bai Ying, but she could not deliver the expressions effectively. The performance of Zheng Yecheng was excellent. He will never let you down.

Overall Opinion

Overall, it is entertaining to watch. If you have read the novel, keep your expectations low because the plot differs slightly from the book.
