Drama Digest

Legends of Fei is a Chinese historical series adapted from ‘Bandits’ by Priest. This drama revolves around the life and adventures of Zhou Fei, granddaughter of an incredible heroic man named Lu Zheng, the creator of forty-eight strongholds, to fight against the evil ones. After her grandfather dies, her mother, Li Jinrong, takes over and continues protecting the fort of strongholds with her husband and daughter. The fort’s prominence and significance diminish with time. Meanwhile, Zhou Fei becomes tired of being confined to her home. She decides to run away from her boring life and makes many efforts to make it possible. But when she nearly drowned while saving her cousin, only a martial arts expert named Xie Yun could save her. This was a significant turning point in her life. They both develop a friendly bond as they journey across to find a secret buried for twenty years, encountering various masters and learning new techniques and knowledge.

The Feel Good Part

Legends of Fei could be a treat to the eyes for the ones who are Wuxia fans. The drama seems to be quite charming and exciting up to some level. The script was well written, adding some humorous and romantic elements. The plot of Legends of Fei is unique as it focuses more on martial arts from a female point of view. The character of the female lead is quite determined and morally strong. As it was an action-based drama, there were some great action sequences, most of which had a strong female lead.

The Disappointing Part

This play has various problematic elements, like the editing section. In some episodes, due to poor editing and camera skills, it lost the interest of many viewers. The cast did a good job portraying the characters, but there was no chemistry between them. The show seemed quite intriguing initially but later got monotonous and eventually lost the flow. Since it was a Wuxia drama, audiences believed it fell short as the plot ran too long.

Little does Fei know that there are even bigger secrets waiting for her, including the real identity of Xie Yun.

Star Power

Zhao Li Ying was entirely compatible with the role of Zhou Fei. She did a great job as a powerful and glorious character of Fei. She appeared to be a little older than necessary for the part, but her acting and martial arts skills drew a lot of spectators. Well, Wang Yibo has always been a charming lad and has flattered many hearts with his fantastic role in the drama The Untamed.

Overall Opinion

Fans of historical period dramas should give this one a shot because it will not disappoint.
