Drama Digest
What happens when your memory is wiped out and have no recollection of past events? How do you bring those memories back as they might be the sole clue to bringing a criminal down?
This theme of the series is based on the above.
It tracks the journey of an undercover cop named Gan Tian Leu. For ten years, his life is in the grey zone of life. He loses his memory in an explosion resulting in a coma. When he wakes up, he starts to put together his life back and also solve a case with his repressed memories.
Gan Tian Leu, Yang Xiao Lei, and Xiong Guo Liang were an inseparable trio in the police academy. When Gan wounds someone who attacks Yang, he is suspended from the Academy.
He relocates to the South where he meets the mysterious Che Li Zi, who recruits him to work in the Cesar Group. At the same time, Gan meets Uncle Hai, an undercover agent who convinces him to turn informer. Gan does as at heart he is still a cop.
As they close to bringing the Cesar Group down, Gan is gravely injured. He forgets the past and Cesar Group is absolved of all wrongdoing.
Gan has to reconstruct his life and remember as his memory is the only clue in catching the Cesar Group.
Is there more to Gan’s suspension and memory loss? Is there a mastermind behind all this? Will Gan succeed in taking down the Group?
The series is about all these and more.
The Feel-Good Part
The visuals and sound effects are marvelous. In addition, the action sequences are fabulous.
The sound adds to the series’ twists, making it a visual treat for the audience.
The performances by the leads are also excellent. The actor playing Gan has enacted his pain and despair well.
The Disappointing Factor
In the beginning, the series starts well. The script is tight and each scene is just brilliant.
But as the series progresses, especially towards the end, it loses momentum as the writing is not as good as before.
In-Depth Analysis
Memories are the only thing that keeps us going. But when it is lost in a split second, life changes.
The series is about Gan, an undercover cop who has to restart his life after a terrible injury. He has faint and shady remnants of his past which helps him to move forward.
Before his injury, Gan and his two friends were aspiring to be law enforcement officers. But when he defends a friend from an attack, he is suspended.
Gan moves to the South, where he befriends Che, who works for the (in)famous Cesar Group. He also meets an undercover agent Uncle Hai, who converts him into a mole.
Gan collects sufficient evidence against the Group to bring them down. It is at this time, that he is badly wounded and loses his memory.
The series traces Gan’s journey and the challenges he faces during it.
Star Power
Ou Hao as Gan and Xu Hong Jie are great to watch. Their camaraderie as frenemies is bang on. It is a treat to watch.
Overall Opinion
If you love action thrillers, then this one is a must-watch.
