Fake girlfriend is a Chinese web show. The plot of the show is very simple. The male lead Li Haotian is a workaholic person. When his parents ask him to introduce them to his girlfriend, he is forced to get a girlfriend on rent. Along with his fake girlfriend, they were on there to his parent’s house when things starts going south.
The Feel-Good Part
There are many feel-good parts in the show as the couple tackle one problem after another with hilarity. They begrudgingly get to learn more about each other with every passing day. They share a lot of wholesome moments as they face all the difficulties in reaching their home.
The Disappointing Factor
The biggest disappointing factor of the show is its production quality. The production looks cheap and sloppy. The script is basic and overdone. The written material is a hit-and-miss during the whole show. It’s not a bad show but it could’ve been better.
In-Depth Analysis
Fake Girlfriend is a Chinese web series. It has a very simple plot. Li Haotian is a workaholic man in his early thirties. On an unfortunate day, he receives a call from his parents, demanding to meet his wife or girlfriend. Li Haotian has always been focused on his career and had no time to date, anyone. Compelled by his parent’s command he is forced to make a choice. After thinking it through, he decides to rent a girlfriend to meet his parents and get them off his back for now. He meets Lu Shiyi through a common friend, Zhang Meili. The two meet in a hurry and rush to the airport to go to his parent’s house. The flights were delayed due to some inconvenience at the airport. He goes ahead and checks to get the tickets for the high-speed train. Unfortunately, the trains were also delayed much to his dismay. Left with no choice, Li Haotian decided to rent a Porsche to drive their way home. But luck is not on his side this time. On the way to his hometown, they were followed by some suspicious-looking people. This leads to a string of mischievous events which leads to hilarity and absurdity. Getting past every trouble they finally make some progress only to fall into a bigger mess. Finally, Lu Shiyi and Li Haotian end up traveling 5000 kilometers to reach his parent’s home. They meet all kinds of people on the way and spent more than 20 days together fighting all their troubles.
Star Power
The star power of the show is the male and female lead actors. They were the life of the entire show. They were cute and hilarious at every moment. They delivered a great performance which was the only memorable feature of the show. The chemistry between the leads was obvious and came out looking natural.
Overall Opinion
Overall, the show is your basic fake relationship drama. It has its hilarious moments but it runs dull in most of the others. The show could’ve done better with better production quality and camera work. The actors did their best. Overall, the show is watchable with a little patience.
