Drama Digest

A story of logic, mystery, and romance has been turned into a drama like no other. Based on the light novel of the same name, we see what it’s like to bring a story to life. The story looks at two intelligent minds colliding. We see Yan Su, a genius logician with a lot of knowledge. He lives in a mysterious castle and remains solitary from the outside world. In his isolated state, he works hard and uses his brain to solve mysterious and complicated cases. One day, he encounters an intelligent and beautiful woman. Zhen Ai is a clever biologist with a brain unlike any other. She wants his help to solve a cryptic code that cannot be solved by anyone else. While he is initially reluctant, he says yes, and slowly, they begin to uncover secrets that will change their lives forever. What do they discover, and how does it affect them? Who are these two geniuses, and what do they have to hide from each other? Does something grow between these two? Watch this drama and find out.

The Feel-Good Part

There is great subtlety and softness to this drama which is accompanied by some great minds working together to solve a bunch of mysteries. The isolation and lack of stress within this drama make it so good. The drama allows you to get lost in the simplicity of the drama and the beauty of the characters and the story. This drama is prolonged yet paced beautifully. What makes this drama so beautiful is its ability not to get lost in tropes or extra subplots that lead nowhere. It sticks to its story and tells it beautifully. What’s more? Many decisions made within the drama do not feel frustrating or out of place. They all make sense, and you can root for the characters no matter what they do.

The Disappointing Factor

With the lack of side plots, this drama tends to get stale over time. The reason for this staleness comes from its extensive 30-episode runtime, which does not justify its story. There is a lot you can take from this drama, but a lot of the time, it feels excruciatingly long and unnecessary. With an overpowered and brilliant character, there tends to be this feeling of coldness and unlikability that occurs, and this drama is no different. While we see some growth and emotions as the drama goes on, you cannot help but feel a bit frustrated by this drama and its main characters. There is also the issue of whether or not the drama is adapted from its source material, but for the most part, it does not affect how you enjoy it.

In-Depth Analysis

When you take a brilliant character and put him in a mystery that no one can solve, along with a highly isolated setting, you can have a prolonged drama that can sometimes be hard to keep up with. If you manage to withstand the 30-episode run, you may enjoy this drama a lot.

Star Power

This drama’s production is under iQiyi and Youku. This drama has two production companies as it is a collaboration that results in a Chinese-Korean drama. Youku is best known for dramas such as Love and Redemption, Falling Into Your Smile, You Are My Hero, Ashes of Love, and WayV Dream Plan. The original story of this drama comes from a novel of the same name by Jiu Yue Xi. Our lead roles in this drama are Yan Su and Zhen Ai, played by Oh Se Hun and Xu Ling Yue. We also have a third lead role played by Leo Yang. Oh Se Hun does a great job of portraying the reclusive yet intelligent protagonist who does not know how to deal with people. Xu Ling Yue gives an excellent performance as a woman trying to solve her problem but slowly finding some spark in the most unlikely place. Oh Se Hun stars in movies and dramas such as Now, We Are Breaking Up, Dokgo Rewind, EXO Next Door, Catman, SMTOWN The Stage, and more. He is best known as a member of the iconic and world-famous boy band EXO. Overall Opinion

While it is a slow-paced drama it makes up for it with some beautiful sequences and moments that truly keep you engaged.
