Drama digest

This is a criminality-based Chinese drama that depicts a police officer involved in a particular case along with his police sub-division.

The Feel-good part

The show’s story is intelligently written. All the actors are good-looking. The suspense is good throughout the series. The actors played their respective characters very well.

The disappointing factor

Somehow the story doesn’t feel complete even after all the attempts it makes. It could’ve been the perfect crime series without the melodrama part. The melodramatic angle makes it seem like any other ordinary series.

In-depth analysis

Chang Zheng, the vice-captain of his police subdivision, is the protagonist of the show. He is super good-looking, charismatic with a great personality. The story starts with the investigation of a shooting case involving the most famous family in Zheng city. A murder takes place in the suburban villa of the Zhao family. This family has always been cruel to everyone in the town and treats others brutally. They have no humanity and only care for money and profits. Zhao Xiao Sheng, the patriarch of the Zhao family, is a father of four sons. None of these sons are hundred percent biologically related, meaning all of them have a different mother. His sons, starting from the oldest, are Zhao Peng Zhan, his second son, Zhao Pengcheng, a local prosecutor, his third son, Zhao Peng Xiang and his fourth son, Zhao Peng Chao, a lawyer in Australia. The second son has never taken interest in Zhao’s businesses and likes to maintain no contact with the family. He is the present scenario murder victim. The main suspect in his murder is said to be the third son, Zhao Peng Xian,g and is arrested, and taken for interrogation. Inspector Chang Zheng is now investigating the truth behind this case. As all four sons of the Zhao family are completely different, it gets pretty challenging to reveal the actual truth. Some other officers in Zheng’s team are introduced later in the show. This is a story of Chang Zheng discovering the secret behind this murder mystery and also finding a hidden aspect of his life.

Star power

The main lead, Chang Zheng, played by Johnny Huang, has an intelligent presence in the series. His charisma carries the show along with all the suspense.

Overall opinion

If someone is looking for a serious crime drama mixed with some melodrama, they can go for this one. It’s a good one for people who’re into both genres.
