Drama Digest
Became A Handsome Man is a Chinese drama that revolves around a girl named Xia Jiangnan, who is a tomboy with her androgynous behavior. People often mistake her for a boy. Xia Jiangnan struggles to make ends meet. She became the only bread earner after her bankrupt father’s demise. She does multiple jobs to pay off the debt. On the other hand, Gao Xing is a rebellious guy who always causes trouble for his wealthy father. His cousin Deng Yufe devises a plan to make him responsible and tricks him and makes him an employee at their own company sports car club, where only men are recruited. Somehow, while helping Xia Jiangnan’s friends, she too ends up there, and there everyone misunderstands her as a boy and recruits her for a job. Gao Xing is the complete opposite of Xia Jiangnan. What will happen when they both come across each other? Will their tense relationship eventually turn into love? Watch the drama to know.
The Feel-Good Part
The drama is incredibly entertaining and contains many comedic elements. Both the love triangle and the on-screen chemistry between the stars are fantastic. The OSTs enhance the mood of the drama. The bond between Gao Xing and Xia Jiangnan is quite heart-warming to behold. The stunning visuals were successfully brought to us by the superb cinematography.
The Disappointing Part
The supporting actors don’t get much screen time, the narrative and plotline are both rather straightforward, and nothing much happens in the storyline. The show may become boring after a few episodes, and the dialogue may sound forced. There are numerous pointless sequences and clichéd dialogues that could have been avoided.
In-Depth Analysis
The drama portrays the life of a girl who struggles a lot to pay her debts, and she gets a job in a sports car academy where she has to pretend as a boy to sustain her career. There she meets the rich guy, eventually; their hate relationship turns into love. The drama is an enjoyable one, and it portrays every scene in an unambiguous way. The character development of each character is portrayed well. Especially Gao Xing, his character development after he meets Xia Jiangnan is really nice. The OSTs are amazing. It may seem like a cliche love story between a rich boy and a poor girl, but the female lead’s tomboyish personality makes it entertaining. The editing, cinematography, and other elements are all done excellently. Because of the excellent use of comedy elements, the drama is entertaining and would certainly make the audience laugh. It is a good rom-com drama.
Star Power
The show’s main draw is its cast of actors. Everyone did a fantastic job. The audience will remember the character Xia Jiangnan’s tomboyish nature for a very long time since she is so endearing. That was expertly portrayed by Fang Hui. Gao Xing’s character portrayal by Lee Sang-Yeob is authentic. It’s difficult to resist falling for Ding Yufei since Ryan Liu Chao plays the part so well and naturally. The supporting actors performed admirably in their roles.

Became A Handsome Man is an engaging drama in which the actors give excellent, honest performances. You might enjoy it if rom-com dramas are your thing.
