Drama Digest

This is a Chinese boys’ love/bromance drama that follows the everyday life of a young business executive and his roommate, a pop idol.

The Feel-Good Part

The boys have lots of cute moments together. Comedy is the central theme of the series. Due to the hilarious and fun scenes, the drama felt more like a sitcom.  The acting part was done well too. The story is pretty sweet.

The Disappointing Factor

There were many more scenes in the original version, but the Chinese censor board cut them off, which is a huge disappointment.

In-Depth Analysis

Nan Bowan is a young Entrepreneur. He is wealthy, but unfortunately, his wealth is not enough to stand out from the crowd of the rich.  He rents an apartment and starts living there. In order to earn extra money, he decides to rent the spare room to someone in his apartment. This is how he ends up meeting the other male protagonist, Bai Li Qian Chuan. Bai is an unpopular male pop idol who has always dreamt of being famous. He wants to succeed so badly that he would do anything to become famous. To save money, he becomes the rentee at Bowan’s apartment. Both start living together but argue a lot. One day, during Bai’s live stream, Bowan walks through the room with just a towel on. Neither of them realize that it has been captured in the camera, but the viewers do. This causes a spur among the viewers, and a lot of fans start shipping them together. At first, Bai is confused by all this but seeing that he’s receiving the popularity of his life because of this incident, he decides to play along. Bowan denies this previously but later agrees for the sake of Bai. Even after this, despite showing off their fake romance in public, both do not stop arguing. In a matter of days, this fake affair starts turning into a real romance. Both start developing feelings for each other. In the end, they officially get into a romantic relationship and figure out life together.

Star Power

Both the main leads did an exceptionally good job on their respective parts. Their chemistry was sweet which added to the sweetness and fun part of the show.

Overall Opinion

Overall, it is an adorable series that makes everyone laugh until their stomachs hurt. It is a good attempt at portraying the nuances of an LGBTQ couple.
