Due to an American firebombing during the Second World War, two children get separated from their parents. One of the two children is a teenager who takes charge of keeping his younger sister save. Their tale of survival is heart-breaking and painstaking. The two siblings only have one another in order to survive and live on.
3. Perfect Blue
Perfect blue shows the story of Mima Kirigoe, a member of a J-pop band named ‘CHAM!’ Mima decided to leave her music band and become a full-time actress. However, her journey to become an actress as well as her life as an actress was nothing close to easy. She was stalked by a fan and often saw reflections from the past. She also regretted leaving her band and started suffering from psychosis.
4. Weathering With You
The story revolves around a high school boy, Hodaka Morishima, who had run away from his troubling home to Tokyo. In Tokyo, he meets an orphan girl named Hina Amano. Hina had the ability to manipulate the weather according to her wish. Both of them are poor teens who were struggling with money. They together started a business that became successful. However, by then Hodaka’s parents had filed a missing report for him and police had come to find him. The story shows how the two of them get separated due to their circumstances but find their way to each other when the right moment comes upon them.
5. The Garden Of Words
The Garden of Words portrays a touching relationship between a student and a teacher. Takao is a high school student who had decided to skip school on a rainy day. He sat by in a park sketching shoe designs when he meets an adult woman enjoying beer and chocolate. She had skipped work just like he had skipped school. The two then started seeing each other on rainy days. Later in the story, Takao learns the woman’s true personality that takes the story into another direction.
6. 5 Centimetres Per Second
The story is about two people named Tono Takaki and Shinohara Akari. Takaki and Akari had been close friends ever since they were young. However, as years passed by, they grew distant from one another. The main reason for their distance was their families, but the two continued to exchange contact- but that did not last too long as well. The gap between them only grew. Takaki often wondered about the times when he and Akari used to be close and questioned if they would ever see each other again.
7. Ride Your Wave
Hinako was a college student who loved to surf on the ocean waves of her coastal town. In the same town, she meets a firefighter named Minato whom she is drawn towards. Both of them developed a romantic relationship with one another. However, one day, Minato tragically drowns while surfing alone. His death traumatized Hinako. While everyone tries to move on from his death, Hinako relies on Minato’s spirit that had returned to her.

Makoto is a teenage girl who magically acquires the newfound ability to travel back in time. Being an immature high school student, she decides to use this power to her advantage. However, she’s unaware t that her toying with the past will not only affect her life but everyone else’s life around her just as much.

Colorful is the story of a wandering soul that entered the body of a suicide victim named Makoto. The soul needs to find a way to fit into Makoto’s lifestyle and also find the answer to two mysteries. The first was the sin it had committed to become a wandering soul. And the second mystery was why Makoto had committed suicide.
10. To The Forest Of Firefly Lights
When Hotaru was young, she got lost in a forest while visiting her uncle’s place during summer. She was rescued by a spirit named Gin. Hotaru begins to visit the spirit every summer. As years passed by, she grew older; however, the spirit remained the same. The two grew close even though Hotaru knew that Gin would disappear if he was touched by a human. The two confessed their feelings for one another by the end of the movie but did Gin disappear?
