Like other countries, China looks at some of its folklore and native culture with penning horror. Some ghoulish fiend apparations make Chinese horror movies more surprising than expected. There is also the work of the actors who play an incredible role in these movies to make them look terrifying. So here is the list of the top 10 actors who have played the protagonist in horror movies.
1. Danny Lee
Danny Lee studied at the TVB Acting School in 1970 and got his first role in the 1972 film Water Margin. Danny Lee made his debut in River of Fury. He acted in the 1992 horror film Dr.Lamb, in which he played the role of Inspector Lee.
Dr. Lamb is about an abnormal taxi driver who kills several young women every rainy night because of his bloodlust.
2. Josei Ho
Josei Ho, born in 1974, is an actress and producer. She played the protagonist of the horror film 'Dream Home in 2010. 'Dream Home' is a Horror and Crime genre movie where Cheng Li is a young woman desperate to keep her home and gets forced to keep her dream alive...even if it means murdering her neighbors.
3. Jiang Yiyan
Jiang Yiyan, born in 1983, received her education in dancing and singing from Beijing Dance Academy. Before graduating, she made her career debut with the film 'One Summer With You.'
Jiang expressed her interest in horror movies, which led her to get a role in 'Bunshisaba 3' (2012) and 'Deadly Delicious, Nanjing!' These movies helped her gain fame.

Shu Qi, or Lin Li-hui, born in 1976, is an actress and writer. Shu Qi is known as one of the highest-paid actresses in China. She starred as the main character in the horror film 'Home Sweet Home' (2005). The plot revolves around a family that moves into a new apartment on the site of a slum where many lives got lost.
5. Siu-ho Chin
Siu-ho Chin, born in 1963, is a well-known actress for her performance in movies like 'Tai Chi Master' (1993), 'The Masked Avengers (1981), and 'Fist of Legend' (1994).
Siu-ho starred in the 2013 horror movie 'Rigor Mortis.' This film paid tribute to the classic Chinese Horror series 'Mr. Vampire.' Rigor Mortis featured the same cast, including- Anthony Chan and Richard Ng. The plot contemplated suicide and inhabited an apartment building by a vampire and other supernatural beings.

Anthony Chan, born in 1952, is a Chinese actor and producer known for the movies like When Fortune Smiles(1990), A Fishy Story (1989), and Behind the Yellow(1984). He was one of the main leads in the horror movie series Mr. Vampire and the movie Rigor Mortis (2013).
7. Chang Chen
Chang Chen, born in 1976, is an internationally renowned Chinese actor. He debuted at 14 in the movie A Brighter Summer Day. He was the protagonist in the 2006 horror movie Gui Si (Silk).

Chinese actor and model- Shawn Yue is called the next 'Nicholas Tse.' He starred in the 2007 horror drama In Love with the Dead. Shawn plays the role of a designer Ming who lives in Hong Kong with his girlfriend and her younger sister, who loves comic books and ghost stories. The movie moves to a dark side when he leaves his job for his cancer-diagnosed girlfriend.
9. Deng Jiajia Chen
Actress Jiajia Chen is well-known for her roles in 'Seven Swords' (2005), 'Wo Zhi Nv Xin' (2011), 'On His Majesty's Secret Service' (2009), and the 2008 horror movie 'Jiu Wo.' Mi Yang is a well-known Chinese actress who attracts her audience with her big eyes and pale alabaster skin. She is famous for starring in movies like- 'Three Lives, Three Words, Ten Miles of Peach Blossom (2017), 'Reset,' and 'Fuyao' (2018).
