Drama digest:

The series is about a game that hurts people in real life, meaning every happening of the game happens to people in real life. It’s a VR in a VR.

The feel-good factor:

Even though the series is based on VR gaming, a big part is dedicated to character development and relations. The entire story carries a moral with it, which is an important thing when it comes to making a series, something that’s interesting having any genre and something that teaches the audience life lessons despite its genre.

The disappointing factor:

Most of the screen time is dedicated to the protagonist, Yuuki’s past, which can seem a bit annoying. And as it gives out a give message, it also gives out a reckless message of totally immersing yourself in video games. A more than usual immersion of one can lead to an unhealthy life which needs to be realized by the audience.

In-depth analysis:

Yuuki Hiroshi, the lead of the series, is a high school student who is fond of video games, especially RPG- Role Playing Games. Yuuki plays these games as an escape from some accident that had happened in the past that still stresses him out. One day, he visits a video game parlor, where he’s a regular customer, to buy a new game for himself. While he’s looking around, the manager of the store tricks him into buying a unique game called ‘Kiwame quest.’ After denying it at first, Yuuki agrees to buy the game later. When he unpacks it and starts playing with it, he realizes that this game is unlike the other games. He is astonished by its graphics. It was a game that pursues realism to a fanatical point meaning the incidents taking place in the game happen to its players in real life. Due to this, his astonishment at the game disappears. He soon comes to know that any happening taking place in the game, is happening to him in real life, all the injuries, the fights, the power-ups, etc. At first, he gets frustrated at the idea of all this, but later, he becomes adamant about completing the game even at the cost of his life.

Star power:

Most of the time of the series has been given to Yuuki Hiroshi himself, so there’s no time for any other character to shine.

Overall review:

Overall, it’s an exciting and modern thing to watch. It’s full of technological and gaming aspects so gaming fans can think of giving this show a try.
