Anime Digest

Isekai Shokudou returns with another season. The storyline is similar to that of season 1. Nekoya, a prominent Western restaurant in a Tokyo commercial neighborhood, is on a street corner. This restaurant is famous among Tokyo residents since it serves traditional Japanese and Western dishes. However, this seemingly typical restaurant attracts a different type of customers, from a fantasy world! Take a look into the fantasy world of food and how it draws strangers together who would otherwise never meet.

 The Feel-Good Part

The feel-good part is the food! We see how the restaurant affects people’s lives from the fantasy world. There were a few adorable moments, like when Aletta and Kuro get a brain freeze after eating shaved ice. In addition, the sound, particularly the soundtracks, is perfectly well-matched to the drama’s theme. The opening and closing themes are playful, ideal for a slice-of-life anime. Also, the sound effects of customers biting into their food make the viewer drool.

 The Disappointing Factor

The characters appear to blend as they only serve food to the customers. There is no significant change in the tight framework of the storyline, and it is nearly impossible to attach to any characters as there is room for very little character development in the 25 minutes of runtime. It may be boring to watch if one looks for more than a slice-of-life drama.

 In-Depth Analysis

The show is more or less the same now that there are more faces and development. Like season 1, the Western Restaurant Nekoya continues its teleporting rampage on Saturdays. It brings people from all walks of life into this other fantasy dimension to sample the many cuisines available in an average family restaurant in Japan, where the chef ‘Master’ makes mouth-watering food.Without much plot diversity, Isekai Shokudou’s structure varies very little from visit to visit. A new character is introduced, and one is given a little flavor text to describe their circumstances. They enter the restaurant, adore the one cuisine of choice that they prepare, and then leave, content with what they’ve eaten.

 Star Power

Just like in season 1, the central protagonists in this story were Master, Aletta, and Kuro. The back story plot of the characters and fantasy worlds were also well-written. The star power was the mouth-watering, delicious food cooked in every episode.

 Overall Opinion

Overall, the show is wholesome, pure, calming, and non-offensive. It has a straightforward storyline, no long-term conflict for the protagonists to overcome, and no unusual story writing deviates from expectations. You can think of it as one of those pleasant morning television shows that aren’t horrible but also not exceptional.
