Drama Digest

“Gensou Sangokushi Tengen Reishinki” is a fantasy about ancient China during a never-ending war. Massive amounts of negative energy are collected from the deaths during the war, leading to haze formation. This miasma gives birth to monstrous beings called “Wangliang.” They bring chaos to the country by increasing deaths. As a countermeasure, the immortal being, Tianyu, selects exceptional individuals called “Hunters” accompanied by “Guizhan.” The adventure begins as Ouki and his team start hunting the Wangliang.

The Feel-Good Part

The animation is excellent. The character designs are splendid. The concept of demon formation from negative emotions is interesting. The battle scenes are unique and entertaining.

The Disappointing Factor

The first few episodes are more about characters, and episodes are sometimes pointless. It’s a typical battle anime. The story pacing is terrible.

In-Depth Analysis

This anime is based on a Taiwanese role-playing game released in 2013 named “Fantasia Sango.” This mainly focuses on Ouki and Shourei, who support each other while defeating the Wangliang. A god entrusts Ouki, Shourei, Teiken, and Shunkyou with this task. Apart from the battle scenes, there is nothing catchy about this series. Everything is normal, and the story goes on as expected. Although the concept is not unique, it is excellent, it is not up to par. It gets interesting later on when they give more details of the world they live in, but it takes a lot of episodes for that to come. Apart from the lousy pacing, this story is decent.

Star Power

Kensho Ono, Hisako Kanemoto, Mai Nakahara, and Makoto Furukawa did an excellent job dubbing their characters.

Overall Opinion

Overall, this anime is dull, apart from the unique fight scenes. They wasted a lot of episodes without good pacing, but it gets better from episode 9. It is watchable only once.
